I've wanted Yandle on the Blues for a very long time, but just kind of gave up on that. I'd give up A LOT

Yandle-Petro
Jackman-Shattenkirk
Russell-Polak

becomes a top 3 defense in the league.

what would it take from the Oilers? The Oilers wont part with Hall or Eberle or RNH. If they did it would be counter productive. Those 3 guys are why you go after yandle. I dont really think the Coyotes would want our 1st overall either because the only way that happens is if that pick is the main part of the equation with maybe jones thrown in (or some asset of that value). i have heard the yotes staff like jones and gags but if thats all they like than i dont think we have the pieces to do this. most of our guys are untouchable.

people think we will be involved but frankly i dont see how drafting 1st helps the yotes go further next season.

Yanlde for J. Staal is just too perfect a trade for Pheonix and Pittsburgh... Which scares me as a Rangers fan.

Because prospects can be moved in other trades.

I'd be willing to pay quite a bit to get him on Ottawa.

Yandle-Karlsson pairing. Nice....

Jordan Staal + Tangradi/Harrington + conditional 2014 1st if Staal does not re-sign with Phoenix

for

Keith Yandle

Reason for pens, Shero has openly stated that a D man or two is on the way out. Most people believe that to be Martin. If this is true then the pens will have more than enough cap space to get a great #3 center and add some depth at front. Maybe even allowing a play at a top level rw for Crosby or Geno.

Reason for Coyotes, they add a player capable of playing big minutes for them up front. He is a big bodied forward who proved he can score offensively. Giving him more prime minutes will all but increase his production. Also the Coyotes have been known for their excellent two way play. Jordan Staal fits there system better than almost any other forward in the league. Adding a solid prospect and a condition is just to sweeten the pot for the Coyotes. Jordan Staal may not love it in phoenix, but they are already competitive and he would be given the reigns essentially. Giving him a chance to prove himself.

It's really not even a steep price.

Oshie would be missed but he isn't a true difference maker. He is a nice 50-60 point winger that might be able to play center. He hits hard and plays strong defense but we have a lot of good defensive forwards.

Ian Cole is a very solid defensive prospect that has 2nd pairing potential. However, with Yandle, Jackman, and Russell in the mix, he wouldn't be missed at all.

And the 1st is the 25th overall pick. While I think we can get a really nice prospect, we aren't talking about a top 10 pick.

It's a fair price to pay.

And making a trade for the sake of making a trade? Adding Keith Yandle would be amazing. He is a #1 defenseman. Think of Pietrangelo and Yandle on the ice for 25-30 minutes a night.

If we want to make our defense into a Cup caliber defense, then we should add Yandle. Not Garrison for 5 million a year.

Realizing that Phoenix fans (from what I've seen) view this report with skepticism, what are the major positional needs?

Is it a top-6 center, or a top-6 forward in general?

From the Flyers, is Schenn or Voracek a better starting point as the centerpiece? Schenn has the higher upside, Voracek is pretty much a lock to consistently put up 20+/40+/60+ seasons, while playing above average defense (for his age, at least). He's a pass-first player, but he could fit well with someone like Vrbata.

To Pens:

Keith Yandle

To Yotes:
Unsigned Jordan Staal
Rights to Matt Niskanen
Conditional pick if Staal doesn't resign (3rd?)

Yeah that does complicate things. Pheonix doesn't want to give up Yandle only to have contract drama in a year when they find out J. Staal has no interest in staying in the desert.

If Yandle were even available (which I think he isn't) then it'd be a 1-for-1 trade. Phoenix isn't looking for more depth, we need elite forward talent, preferably at center.

Even if the Blues gave up Oshie in a deal for Yandle, we'd still have:
Perron
Stewart
McDonald
Tarasenko
Steen
D'Agostini
Schwartz(in Peoria).

We're kind of loaded with wingers. Not too mention going from Oshie to Yandle would only add about 2 million in salary. We'd still have plenty to add a 3rd line winger(if need be) and 3rd line center.

The Blues need to go after Yandle.

According to who? I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. 4 really hot months and 8 months of beautiful weather in one of the biggest markets in the US. Our problem is players like it here too much. They're out playing golf while many city's players are working on their games because the weather sucks and there's nothing else to do.

They are, but that gargantuan contract isn't going to help attract an owner. Very tight budget.

No you didn't. With all the contracts that dropped off this year plus losing Yandle, Whitney and Doan, we'd need to spend some cash. I'd love to get Vinny but I don't know if he's someone Maloney would target for Yandle. I'd imagine he's look for someone closer to Yandle in age but I'm just guessing.

Arizona as a whole is amazing. if Phoenix was a part of Canada everyone would move there...but its america . Ive dreamed of enough Canadians buying houses there that they infiltrate the government and have the state join canada. Then i wake up. then i cry.

it seems like half the people in edmonton own second or third houses in phoenix. (based on people i know, of which i can list off at least 20 easily with a house in phoenix area that they only spend maybe 2 months a year in)

Just wanted to say, wow. I cant believe someone has a Brank Radivojevic related screenname. Havent thought of him in 8 years.

As far as Yandle goes, Homer should certainly be looking into this using Schenn.
