No point for Montreal to do that. We need an elite prospect, not a couple more good prospects.

That's a big price to pay for a #3 in a draft that isn't considered so hot. That said, from the very specific situation of the Habs having lacked a big name star up front for so long, I'd still keep the #3 (and my fingers crossed). Habs have to be thinking that they're not going to get this big a pick again for a verrrrrry long time. (Whether that turns out to be true or not, doesn't matter, they have to be looking at it like that).

Buffalo has expressed less than no interest in moving up that high in the draft. From press comments, it seems like the highest pick thy'd target is 7-10. Also, value is off. Definitely too much from Buffalo.

It's too much for Buffalo to give up, and I'm not sure the Habs would do it anyway.

It's a very good offers but the Habs will decline. We need a blue blue blue chip prospect.

Buf wouldn't do that deal, too much to give up for one guy.

I would do it from a Montreal POV if I knew I could get Grig at 12 and maybe Subban at 21. Grig isn't as good as Gal but he looks like he has a very high ceiling and should be a steal for someone. We have zero goal tending prospects of note in our system and Subban would be looking to break into the NHL in around 3-4 years, most likely around when Price will be a UFA (I definitely want to keep Price, just a good idea to have a plan B). Also the 2 seconds would give us 7 seconds in the next 2 years, replenishing our prospect pool quite well.

Is Plekanec available for mostly futures?

Don't think so. If they do trade him at the draft, they put their crosshair on MacKinnon, Seth Jones.

Not unless it involves the 4thOA or the 6th OA.

Hell of a package. Habs need an elite forward so it's really tough.

If habs would trade say a deal around Plekanec for 6th overall or so and do this trade:

6th
12th
21st
33rd
42nd
44th
51st

At this point, I'd have a hard time doing it as still have a shot at forsberg/gally and a ton of picks to potentially get guys like TT or grigo with 12th and so on.

I don't see buffalo doing it though so irrelevant.

How many of these picks do you think will make AN INPACT in the NHL or even make the NHL.6TH and 12TH have a decent shot. 21st Maybe The rest are longshot..
Now take the two players you pick at 6th and 12th and compare then to Gal and Pleks. We will keep our 3rdOA thank you.

Buffalo says no and even though Timmins might be happy, Bergevin, and everyone else would not be.

Potentially all of them could make it, though it's obviously unlikely. I think the odds would be we'd get at least 3 NHLers out if that many picks. Most likely more with Timmins running our draft table.

Not to mention the fact we'd probably be in the running for MacKinnon next year...

this to a T. great value for the pick but mtl just cant afford to lose out on what we could gain with the #3... fingers crossed as well.
