Holy ****. Calgary went waaaaay off the board; they probably could have picked him with their second Buffalo pick...

The problem here is that none of us can really argue with Homer's draft history. Late first round is the Flyers' wheelhouse. If they think it will work it, they're usually right.

If they're not..... well they can get a pass ONE time.

"He excels at the puck-possession game – creating turnovers and retaining control under duress. This is partly due to his outstanding compete-level … seriously, he never gives up on the play… but it’s also a result of his excellent hockey-sense and vision. His read-and-react is borderline elite and even in tight spaces, he seems to make the correct decision nine times in ten." - Nhlmockdraft.org

Everything I'm reading says he's Mike Richards clone with tons of compete. Never gives up, ever. Makes smart decisions. Offense is B level and defense is A level. Fiesty. Blocks shots. Fights. Physical.

Flyers know what to do with this type of guy, thankfully.

Pencil sutter in as their 3rd line center for years to come. Perfect compliment for what they need.

What if Maata falls to the Devils? The dark Lord of the Sith Lou can pull stuff like this off.

Did not see this coming, but very interesting. I'm wondering if maybe the Flyers move Giroux to the wing and use Couturier or Schenn as the top line center in two years. Very interesting. In all seriousness though, Scott Laughton is an excellent hockey player. He's a face off demon, he's an intense defensive player, and his offensive game is coming along real nice. He'll be the top center in Oshawa next year and he's going to be an invite to Team Canada for the WJC. This guy is a real good player. Yes, I was hoping for a defenseman, but I like this pick.

I don't think this guy will suck or anything. I just feel like its time to develop some damn defenseman. Another damn center.

But if he's a Richards clone I'll be happy. But so is Schenn(?)
