It happens. Nobody knows if these guys will pan out or not.

Truth be told, if I heard the flyers got Wilson, I would probably be pissed. Edit. Pokoluk alert. Maybe we looked at the first round as a success after getting the Swede and Ribs. If Wilson pans out, it is gravy. This was the high risk pick.

I sure hope the noobs are there at DCamp so I can grade them.

@reporterchris: George McPhee on getting Filip Forsberg at No. 11: "I haven't talked to him a lot because I didn't expect him to be there."

Really like the emphasis on power forwards and size up front. Force multipliers.

Well at least Forsberg can play center if needed. That leaves us Johansson, Laich, Forsberg, Kuznetsov, and Ribeiro (if resigned) that can all play center behind Backstrom. Not the perfect scenario but definitely doable.

From the moves today, I'm definitely expecting a more offensive coach...

No he is not but who cares? The Caps got a without a doubt top 5 player with the 11th pick. I'm not thrilled by the Wilson pick with Teravainen still on the board but if they had traded both picks to move up to say 4 or 5 to take Forsberg I would have been happy so...

That's Eakin and Varlamov (dealt for the #11 pick and the second rounder they traded to Dallas today) for Forsberg and Ribeiro. Hell of a day.

Hoping Wilson beats the typical long odds and fulfills that promise as a power forward. So many guys who project to maybe fill out that way don't pan out.

Would have favored Teravainen, who was available, but you can't but be thrilled with the Caps on day one. They filled a lot of holes.

Backstrom - Ribeiro - Laich down the middle this year will be excellent. Some of the best center depth in the league.

Also, you left out Perreault and Forsberg will not be here for at least one more year.

You could tell the team was not prepared to have to decide on Forsberg.

Who were the 4, left to right, McPhee Maloney.. ? ?

Random guess, maybe one was Fishman.

I don't feel like Dale chose Wilson. TSN had him at 18.

Normally I'd be pissed with two wingers, since George's building from the outside in philosophy hasn't worked. But Forsberg was unbelievable value, you can't pass that up. There weren't any C's at #16 really, don't mind Wilson too much.

I'd lean towards the team that got the guy universally ranked in the top 3 at #11.

There is always wiggle room within a BPA approach. There were D and C who were just as good as Tom Wilson...

Yah I was looking more towards 13-14 and beyond (why I included Kuz and if Ribeiro would be resigned after next year)
