A potentially elite goalie late in the first round of a weak draft that only had true elite talent in the top 2-3 picks maybe? I'll take it.

Great great pick. Subban has the tools to be a great NHL goalie. At this stage in the draft he was a no-brainer.

I bet PK isn't even playing for the Habs by the time Malcolm gets to the NHL.

THis pick was like the Ference finger on steroids...

Hopefully we deal Spooner and our 3rd to move up and take Samuelsson now...

For you guys not a fan of the pick. Look at it this way. Toronto and Philly hate Subban. So when we're not busy hating each other. It's an extra kick to them. Two Subbans in the division for Leaf fans to live with.

who knows.
Their dad is a huge Habs fan. More likely they put the heat on MTL to trade for Malcolm.

10 years from now this will wind up being the best player in the draft.

Why? Malcolm is at least 4 years away.

Too many people to respond too.

Sure, most 1st round picks are a crapshoot, but if you project a guy to be a top 6 winger he can still end up being a bottom 6 guy, or a project 1-2 d-man can still be a 5-6-7 guy.

Only two spots for a goalie, less room for error.

It is fun to have him, but I would just the same never, ever pick a goalie in the first round.

Here's Kyle Woodlief of RLR for Puck Daddy: "I had Malcolm Subban going to New Jersey at No. 29, but he's not in our top 60.
We don't like him. He's got a terrible, terrible glove hand. As athletic and acrobatic as he is, there are a lot of holes in his game. He over-commits on every play, he's terrible handling the puck behind his net and confuses his defensemen.
But I think he'll get picked in the first round."

(at the same time, this sounds a little like Tim Thomas)
Funny you added that I guess as I was quoting. It sounds exactly like Thomas, Simply awful with the puck behind the net confusing defensemen, at least the Bruins are used to that

I am still stunned and baffled by this deal. They must really believe in this kid, but I am sitting here waiting/hoping for some deal to be officially announced where Subban goes as part of the deal for Bobby Ryan or something like that

Hated the pick for ten seconds. Then I heard he was humble. Welcome Subban! Your brother is a baby!

Assuming he ever makes it to Boston. But yeah, he'd probably start games against the dregs of the league as Tuukka's backup.
