If we take Murray without trading down them Tambellini better be fired.

Thing is Murray will probably go 2nd overall and the Jackets really have no incentives of trading for the 1st overall in that case. They're probably just happy with one of Murray or Yakupov. Trading down isn't really an option if Murray is their guy.

Key words: first overall. If they really want Murray, then they should trade down and grab him then. Other teams needed the offensive firepower, so Edmonton would most likely get their man. As it stands, Yakupov.

No one, they trade it. Yak will go #1 overall, I just don't think it's to the Oilers.

For the last time, trading down isn't really an option since Murray could go at 2nd overall. BJ won't have incentives to trade up since they're probably happy with whoever drops to them out of Yakupov or Murray rather than give up asset.

Then they're better off to take Yakupov and trade him for a defenseman if they really want.

If you pick at #1 you have to take Yakupov or else you've made a huge mistake.

Trevor Timmins head of the Mtl Canadiens scouting department said a couple of weeks ago : Not every team has the same number one player on their list.

Yakupov is not on top of MTL list that is for sure. He wasnt even invite to our combine. And he havent received any invite to see Mtl facilities.

LOL Oilers management should be fired for that choice
Columbus and Canadiens management should be tarred and feathered if they skip on him

Edmonton needs a defenceman like Murray more than a forward like Yakupov. Unfortunately I don't see how they can trade down and ensure to get him. So Tambellini will be lambasted for picking a defenceman instead of the forward.

That's true. Oilers would take a huge risk if they decided to trade down (to #3, #4 pick). Neither Canadiens nor Islanders need to move up because they are going to have clearly as good prospect as if they take Yakupov #1 overall. Yakupov is the best player in this draft, but the difference between Yak, Murray, Galchenyuk and Forsberg isn't that huge.

In top 10, I think Oilers is the only one who would really like to trade down/up.

More and more I'm seeing the possibility that Edmonton takes Yakupov #1 and then trades him within minutes for another team's selection (and something else, obviously).

Right now there is a fair bit of uncertainty causing teams not to want to trade until teams actually start putting their money where their mouth is. A team like Columbus or Montreal might really want Yakupov, but be willing to roll the dice in case Edmonton drafts Murray and Yak falls into their laps. Edmonton can call their bluff by actually drafting Yak and then trying to make a deal immediately after.
