its not about the value becaue thats close. But personally id rather keep the players we have unless it makes the habs better and this deal doesnt.

Downgrade in goal and create a huge hole in losing Subban isnt worth getting Ryan and pick.

Agreed, but you also have to factor in that Price is likely gonna get a 5-6 mill contract while hiller is only making 4.5.

As much as with age and health I would prefer to have Price, I think Subban for Ryan doesn't really make sense for these two teams to do, regardless of who is worth more. And the 6th overall pick to be thrown in to entice somebody? Gimme a break, this is ridiculous

Firs off the Hiller = Price thing is a terrible joke. Hiller is 30, and only once played over 59 games, apples and oranges.

Subban and Ryan are a wash but MTL is left with little in goal and the #6 probably won't make up for the gap between losing a fan fav franchise goalie that can be on the team for 10 years for someone we might keep 2-3 years max with no one else in the pipeline.

I really don't know what to make of this. Up to this season, Hiller was (along with Vokoun) the league's most consistant goalie svs%-wise. From january and on, he was back to his old self, and I defenitely rather have that Hiller than Price short term.

However, there's no questinon that Price has much better trade value. With him, the Ducks would have a good goalie for years to come. Subban would be a good addition as well. The problem here is dealing Ryan, without getting any good forward back. In a year, Selanne will most likely retire and Perry might leave as a UFA. Scoring-wise, the Ducks could get in PLENTY of trouble, and the only way to fix it would be by trading guys like Subban and Fowler..
