How would he really be any better than Reimer? Mason's never done anything since his great rookie year. Medicore goalie right now.

CBJ could still be in the market for a second goalie to platoon him with Bob.

Is Columbus better off shipping an early 2nd for Bob, or using the pick to Vasilevski?

Bob at least is 1) acclimated to NA, and 2) has proven himself capable of playing well (if not consistently well) in the NHL.

Was just going to open a thread complaining that there are no trades yet and then this happens.

Dont think that bobrovsky is the solution for the jackets.

I don't think he's terrible, but taking the team to the next level? I don't see it happening. Hopefully this more about pushing Mason than anything else.

That's essentially what I was thinking. They already have a Bobrovsky in Mason...

Do people not relize Bobrovsky was 28-13-8 in his first NHL season at 22 with a .915sv%?

If they want the first overall pick, it makes sense.

I'm guessing it's because Sanford was getting a 2-way deal instead of a 1-way deal even though he outperformed Mason. I dunno, that's my guess.

Seems like Mason to Toronto would make a lot of sense.
If mason couldnt handle the pressure in columbus how do you expect him to play in T.O?

No thanks, sir - the Leafs already had one Andrew Raycroft!

Doesn't look like Bobrovsky deal is done, yet, also, this leads to something much bigger I do think.

My guess: a 3rd and a 5th round pick.

He's an embarrassment to the department! They'll get a good mall cop out of him though.

Bob for #62 and #117?

Bob and a late pick for #45 with #45 being shipped to Phoenix in a Yandle deal?

Can't see the return being that far behind Lindback (two 2nds, and a 3rd)

Yes and Steve Mason was 33-20-7 with a 2.29 GAA, .916 save percentage and 10 shutouts in his first season. That turned out well.

This is the first thing that came to mind for me. Bob is a good goalie, but not one (in my opinion) to flank a franchise. Would his presence help out Mason? ...or...?

Another thought I had- any chance Columbus flips Bob in a Nash deal?

I assume this will take Philly out of the Nash sweepstakes. Bob was a part of that package and in assuming we bailed out on the price and just gave them Bob since they showed interest in him.

Do you not realize that Steve mason was 30-20-7 in his first NHL season at 21 with a .916 save%?
