I wouldn't take Heeter over Bob at all.

I'm happy with this deal for the CBJ. We need 2-3 goalies this offseason.

Lindback is a big boy though, plus Nashville knows how to develop goaltenders. I won't be surprised if Lindback becomes a household name next year.

He's better than anything else the Jackets have, and much more developed than any goalie they could possibly pick up with one of their 2nd round picks. What other goalies would you have him pursue instead?

Well we got decent value with extra picks ontop of a second. Worse off we continue getting younger. But this is likely a sound off to the bigger shot before the draft. I liked Bobrovsky, but Hovinen now gets his chance.

That's quantity but not quality in terms of a return for a bright young goalie imo.

Can you imagine him going for anything less than a 1st rounder the year when he was a starter? imo Flyers gave up a bit too easily on the guy and also, Columbus are gonna remain in the bottom 5-10 if they plan to go with Bobrovsky as the starter (yes I know I somewhat contradicted what I said earlier).

Seems like a fair deal in my eyes. Thought Bob might get a little more, but whatever.

This is a great pickup for the Jackets...

He was terrific in his first year, impressive when you consider he came to the Flyers training camp and didn't speak English or understand the culture. He put 100% into everything he did, including taking English lessons. He is a good kid, very talented and very likable (everybody on the team loved Bob) and has an insane work ethic.

The Flyers (typcial of them) gave up on him too soon, one year is not enough , not nearly enough for a young goalie to develop (the Kings gave Quick that time grow and learn and look how that worked out)

One reason that his numbers dipped this year is because in addition to Pronger, the Flyers lost their top defensive forwards in Richards, Carter, and to a lesser extent, Powe and Betts.
That showed this year, as only Courtier and Read and Wellwood could defend their space in their own zone. The other forwards are sloppy defensively and it showed.

This kid has all the right tools to be a great goalie, and the right attitude. All he needs is time to grow and learn.

A second round pick is not that big a gamble for a young goalie who has shown the potential to be a starter in this league.

Seriously, picks are not that valuable

Not a bad deal. Doesn't do much at all for the Jackets though.

Bob is not the answer to our goaltending and seems to be only a stopgap. I'm fine with him playing 15-25 games a year because he is a decent goalie. However, why not just trade for a better goalie or even sign a free agent? Not really the best trade, but not a bad trade either.

Horrible trade for Columbus, there was no way Philly could keep Bob, and he was not that great.

So now Columbus has three backup goalies, unless something else happens this makes no sense. They might try to package Mason and send him to whoever is willing to take a chance on the NHL's most regressed player.

Bob is underrated by some I think. Good deal for Columbus IMO I see him soon as a starter in this league with the potential to be a top 15 goalie. He's got the work ethic and athleticism to do it. Good luck Bob!

Mason isn't a back-up goalie..

Bobrovsky could be a starter in Columbus... I don't understand this.

Even if Bob doesnt turn into a starter, Columbus needs 2 or 3 goalies. Also, he is better than Mason and Tyutin/Nikitin have been excellent Russian ambassadors for the team.

Finally Columbis had been scouting Bob since he came over to the NHL and CBJ/Flyers were discussing a Mason trade.

Another laughable post.... a mid 2nd and two 4th's is destruction. um...OK.

Good trade for Columbus and Philly. Win, win. Philly clears some cap space (not important to Columbus) and the CBJ get's a young goalie with upside to compete for the starting spot. So happy Mason will be gone shortly.

Oh I'm sorry, I meant to say Mason was a backup on 29 teams, you are technically correct though. Appologies.

teams started to figure him out this past season. He does have his flaws, but he will be a good goalie in this league if he can fix his flaws. I wish him the best.

I don't get this logic. Which free agent do you propose they sign to be their starter, as an improvement on Steve Mason? What assets do you propose to give up for a better, or more highly touted goal-tender? Especially given the most experienced one on the market has the ability to chose which team he is traded to, if he is traded at all.
