I had some words about Tyler Arnason that I'd like to rescind.

Tim Thomas - never thought he was going to amount to anything when the Bruins called him up for a game back in 2002.

There's something off about that timeframe.

Thought Elliott was going to be Ottawa's goaltending savior.
Thought Elliott was going to the AHL when he signed with the Blues in the offseason.

Elliott has mind****ed me time and time again.

Toronto being close 8th seed this season.
Pheonix having 1st overall pick.
Ottawa having 3rd overall pick.

I thought Bryzgalov was going to be the dark horse for the Vezina. Whoops

Nucks and Pens to have strong, deep Cup runs this year.

The year Colorado make the playoffs (After getting Duchene) I said they were the worst team in the league.

I thought Seguin was David Legwand incarnate (No hockey sense) and he'd never top 60 points. I still don't think he's anything more than a 70 point forward but meh.

When the Leafs picked up Connolly I thought "this isn't that bad of a signing"

Wow was I off.

I don't have to go back too far to be utterly wrong about two teams...
I thought Ottawa was set to finish dead last in the East this past season and Phoenix was doomed with their duo of mediocre AHL goalies.

“The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile, but that it is indifferent. If we can come to terms with this indifference and accept the challenges of life within the boundaries of death, our existence as a species can have genuine meaning and fulfillment. However vast the darkness, we must supply our own light.” - Stanley Kubrick

I remember right around the trade deadline there was a thread suggesting that the kings could be a scary team to face in the playoffs, and I said that I would never consider a team that was last in scoring a scary threat. They couldn't stop scoring ever since then.

I thought Jonathan Quick would amount to the equivalent of what Corey Crawford/Ilya Bryzgalov were this season. Very wrong on that one.

Don't want to sound like a homer, but I was fully opposed to signing Kovalchuk after his brief stint with us in 2010. I thought he was defensively inept, selfish, and potentially cancerous in the locker room. Damn, have things changed.

I had the same thoughts as you. I like continuity in teams, so I was skeptical about whether the Panthers could make so many new players work immediately. But I suppose when you've missed the playoffs for 10+ straight years, continuity isn't necessarily a good thing.

After the offseason...

Handzus, White, Burns, Vandermeer?! Take that crappy penalty kill!

The difference between Quick and Niemi was the defense in front of them.

After the first game of the season against the phoenix coyotes...

Mike Smith and the phoenix coyotes are in for a rough ride this season.

Halfway though the season:

How in the world do you manage to pick up Richards and still suck that bad, LA?

Erik Karlsson is way to small to ever be good in the NHL! We should've taken Tyler Cuma!

I thought the Flyers were a runaway in the series against the Devils in the playoffs this past season.

I still really don't know what happened after going 7 with Florida but the Devils played one of the best brands of hockey I have seen in the post-lockout era to blow by the Flyers in that series.

I know people will disagree and say the Flyers weren't on their game, but there is no way they were so far off their game that they just allowed NJ to dictate every aspect of play the entire series. The Flyers were ambushed in that series.

Laughing at Phoenix's goalie tandem last season. Should've been smarter then that in hind-sight.

After LA lost their last game of the season to finish 8th, I went...ah crap. I don't want the Nucks to face that team. That's the best team out of the bottom 4 (in my head they were a 5th place team and not the 8th spot they were in). But then I went, oh well, the Nucks can take them out in 6 even without Daniel.

But that's not nearly as bad as what I read from a fellow Nucks fan after the Kings lost game # 82. He said something along the lines of "Great! Finally, we don't have to go through Chicago this year. It'll be a much easier first round this year" and I'm just paraphrasing here.
