Well the Devils should probably keep their pick next year since they're the host. Forfeit the 2014 pick.

Ducks and Yotes get shafted once again. Both clubs haven't hosted an NHL event in their history.

Interesting move by the league to give the Devils a draft when they've got to give up a first rounder in the next two. Does seem to lock them into having to give up the 2014, but with the Devils nothing seems predictable .

Teams have to apply to host the draft. We don't even know if Anaheim or Phoenix even submitted a bid.

You have to actually bid to be awarded the draft...most years only have one or two (public) bids. The only bids that were talked about for this draft were from Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.

Wow, typical NHL bias to the Atlantic division

It's going to be a hell of a year for hockey in Philadelphia in 2014. Frozen Four finals for the NCAA, and the Draft.

Neither have the Devils or Flyers.

Chances are they would be alright if they wait till the last minute but what is that old saying

"better safe then sorry".

I would laugh if they forfeit the pick next season

Yes. Bias to teams that actually bidded. Until you know if any Western Conference/Other Eastern teams bidded you can't make that statement.

The team (and specifically the owner), a Senator and our governor all asked for this.

Don't see how that's trolling the Devils. We asked to host it.

And don't think this forces Lou's decision on when to forfeit the pick. He does unpredictable things all the time, he wouldn't hesitate to dump the pick next season if he thinks that's the right move.

The ducks were offered the 2014 draft and turned it down because they want to host an ASG.

If the Devils do things as stupidly as they did in the 1st round this year I am not sure I want to be at the draft. As soon as I heard it was in NJ next year I was excited but man what a disappointment this year with Lou picking Matteau. Seriously he should have traded up to ensure we got Subban or without trading up should have taken Bystrom instead of Matteau. So disappointed.
