"The Bromma Bull" Mats Sundin. Mainly because he hasn't really been given the chance to play with some talented wingers in their prime, maybe if he had linemates like Tanguay and Hejduk he'll produce more then Sakic. Yet Sundin is still able to remain top five in the leauge amongst centreman year in year out.

Yeah, Forsberg is the best but Sakic is a close 2nd.

We all know sakic's leadership ability and his production skills.

But his defensive play is sickly underrated.

Guess you didn't watch the Olympics.

Joe Thornton was a monster the whole tournament and was one of the main contributors on team Canada even though he was centering 4th line.

IMHO he showed during Canada's gold medal run that he can certainly lead a team and can play any role that is asked of him.

So Sakic is a product of Tanguay and Hejduk?

Try the other way around.

1) Sakic
2) Forsberg
3) Thornton
4) Sundin
5) Modano

Definetly Sakic.

He's clutch, he's a leader, he's a class act.

Roenick,
Roenick's the man who puts his heart in every game and won't stop unless he's in the hospital. Really performs when the team needs someone to chip one in.

Everybody mentionned in this thread I do agree with as the best centermen except Roenick and Sundin... however I would like to add Mario Lemieux to the list. Sure he's not as fast as he used to be, not as good as he used to be but hes still the magnificent one and will always be as far as I'm concerned.

Marleau is good, but he has never even got 60 pts in one season...quite a bit to go still.

Chad Kilger

Seriously, Mats Sundin. Brad Richard and Joe Thornton are the best up and comers.

Today is Joe Sakic or Sergei Fedorov. Why Fedo ? Because it's a two-way, not Sakic. But, Sakic before Fedorov...

In 3 years, Lecavalier !

Exactly my point, Sakic has line mates that can put the puck in the net. I'm not knocking his playmaking ability, I'm just saying if Sundin had a former fifty goal scorer and one of the top left wingers in the game on his line maybe he'd record more assists also. Let's not forget Sundin played along side Jonas Hoglund for a couple of years, yet Sundin was still able to remain at such a high level. And one last thing Jonas hoglund has only hit the fifty point mark once in his career, and that was in 1999-00, the year he played along side Mats Sundin. If Mats can make Jonas Hoglund look decent, just imagine how he can make Tanguay and Hjeduk look.

How can someone consider Joe Thornton as one of the 5 best centers in the league? This guy is so overrated, No heart Joe should be his name. No determination, no leadership and maybe he is big and very skilled but he is nowhere near Sakic, Forsberg, Sundin, Modano, Federov, Lecavalier, Richards and even Saku Koivu (who is a real warrior).

When Thornton will buy himself a heart, then I'll consider him top 5 in the NHL, because he can be on of the great on any given nights, he just have to WANT TO like he did in the World Cup. If teammate Bergeron could only give him half of his desire...
