I've seen Paquette play this year and I will see him again next year and will be able to provide updates for you guys.
A quick scouting report about him would say he plays a bit like Patrice Bergeron. He is big and strong on the puck, responsible in all three zones, has good skating abilities and is very smart on the ice.
Also scored more than 30 goals as a rookie in the Q. A favourite of mine and I knew he was gonna ge drafted even if he is at his 2nd year of eligibility.
I really like this kid. He got a little buried both in the fact that everyone has a draft boner about defenders and that he played in Boisbriand. Not bad.
A lot of you seem to be upset that we didn't take Maatta at either 10 or 19, but there were 21 other teams that also passed on him too. Wasn't impressed with him at the World Jrs either as he seemed overwhelmed and scared quite often (especially vs. Canada where he eventually left the game). And when did Maatta suddenly become a "top caliber defenseman"? He could very well turn out to be a good defenseman but I think the scouts know more than us arm-chair GM's.
I'm happy with Vasilevski, as he was very impressive in the World Jrs. and was the top goalie available. There's nothing wrong with stockpiling goalies, as they're great assets both for stability in net as we've struggled there for a while, or as trade pieces. Also, there's no saying that Lindback will definitely pan out for us.
Just saw Tim Thomas has waived his trade clause, any chance he gets reunited with Marty? Not sure what the asking price would be...guess it would defeat the purpose of trading for Lindback though
Thomas isn't playing next season, the whole purpose of trading him is to dump his cap hit on a team trying to reach the floor.
Yeah I figured, but you never know with these situations. There's no saying that he couldn't come back mid-season if he was ready and in form (unless there's a stipulation in the pending trade stating he couldn't do that).
Hey folks, a Brampton season ticket holder here who has been watching Dylan Blujus for 2 years now.
Great pickup who has seemed to be getting better and better, we drafted him in the 3rd round of our OHL draft 2 years ago and as a rookie he fit right in.
This year he was great, kid has a HELLUVA shot on the point and is on our #1 PP unit. He does have a few holes defensively but his offensive upside seems to make up for it, plus he is paired with a very good shutdown defenseman here in Brampton, who is also still on the draft table.
Check out battalionhockey.com tomorrow for a Blujus highlight pack.
