A quick scouting report about him would say he plays a bit like Patrice Bergeron. He is big and strong on the puck, responsible in all three zones, has good skating abilities and is very smart on the ice.

Also scored more than 30 goals as a rookie in the Q. A favourite of mine and I knew he was gonna ge drafted even if he is at his 2nd year of eligibility.
I really like this kid. He got a little buried both in the fact that everyone has a draft boner about defenders and that he played in Boisbriand. Not bad.

Quote:
The Lightning go for their second overage draftee of the night in late blooming power center Cedrick Paquette. Paquette was Blainville's best player in the playoffs.

Pros: Tenacious forechecker who dominates below the circles. Surprising puckhandling ability and soft hands.

Cons: Second year eligible only played 4 games of major junior before this year.

Red Line Report projects Paquette as a gritty bottom six forward with some ability to contribute offensively, and compares him stylistically to Matthew Lombardi.

If he gets some time to grow and build strength I think his ceiling is more like Killorns, rather than a bottom six producer.

A lot of you seem to be upset that we didn't take Maatta at either 10 or 19, but there were 21 other teams that also passed on him too. Wasn't impressed with him at the World Jrs either as he seemed overwhelmed and scared quite often (especially vs. Canada where he eventually left the game). And when did Maatta suddenly become a "top caliber defenseman"? He could very well turn out to be a good defenseman but I think the scouts know more than us arm-chair GM's.

I'm happy with Vasilevski, as he was very impressive in the World Jrs. and was the top goalie available. There's nothing wrong with stockpiling goalies, as they're great assets both for stability in net as we've struggled there for a while, or as trade pieces. Also, there's no saying that Lindback will definitely pan out for us.

Just saw Tim Thomas has waived his trade clause, any chance he gets reunited with Marty? Not sure what the asking price would be...guess it would defeat the purpose of trading for Lindback though

Thomas isn't playing next season, the whole purpose of trading him is to dump his cap hit on a team trying to reach the floor.

Yeah I figured, but you never know with these situations. There's no saying that he couldn't come back mid-season if he was ready and in form (unless there's a stipulation in the pending trade stating he couldn't do that).

If he really wants to roll the dice, Anton Slepyshev is still available. Word though is he's happy staying in the KHL.

Pick is JAKE DOTCHIN

https://twitter.com/BoltProspects
Quote:
Dotchin projects as a shutdown defenseman. Improved a lot in the second half of the season. 6'3", 210.
Quote:
Ironically, TB prospect Geoffrey Schemitsch getting traded gave Dotchin the ice time he needed to improve his draft standing. Project.

The Lightning opt for another late bloomer in big Owen Sound defenseman Jake Dotchin.

Pros: Big, strong young man who is a hitter. Good awareness and good positionally. Reads the play well. Big hard shot.

Cons: Skating has improved, but he's still on the slow side with poor footwork. Outlet passing needs work, as well.

Red Line report projected Dotchin as a depth defenseman in the stay-at-home mold and compared him to Mark Fraser.

RLR quote on Dotchin: "Skating still not a strength but improved a TON. Very strong upper body & plays physical - regularly knocks even strong forwards off their feet."

Tampa Bay just grabbed two of our favorite Defensemen first Slater Koekkoek now Jake Dotchin. Dotchin could end up the steal of the draft.

Tampa should have drafted Grigo!

Kucherov - Grigorenko - Gusev was an excellent line for Russia!

Hey folks, a Brampton season ticket holder here who has been watching Dylan Blujus for 2 years now.

Great pickup who has seemed to be getting better and better, we drafted him in the 3rd round of our OHL draft 2 years ago and as a rookie he fit right in.

This year he was great, kid has a HELLUVA shot on the point and is on our #1 PP unit. He does have a few holes defensively but his offensive upside seems to make up for it, plus he is paired with a very good shutdown defenseman here in Brampton, who is also still on the draft table.

Check out battalionhockey.com tomorrow for a Blujus highlight pack.

But until then check out this....
