A quick scouting report about him would say he plays a bit like Patrice Bergeron. He is big and strong on the puck, responsible in all three zones, has good skating abilities and is very smart on the ice.

Also scored more than 30 goals as a rookie in the Q. A favourite of mine and I knew he was gonna ge drafted even if he is at his 2nd year of eligibility.
I second this.
I would also add that he kinda gets under your skin.
Then again, I'm a Gatineau Olympiques' fan. lol

Gusev with our last pick! Happy to see that other poster's voices were heard! Hopefully he turns out to be the next Datsyuk as you all seem to suggest.

Good way to close day two with Gusev. Hopefully Stevie can convince him and Kucherov to come over together. I think Yzerman got some solid players in the draft but obviously we won't know for sure until a few years from now. Looking forward to seeing these guys develop.

Wooooooooooo Gusev! Might be easier to convince Kucherov to come over now!

Of course the team's 7th round pick would receive the most fanfare.

I'm pretty happy about it though too.

So don't you guys got 4 depth goalies before Vasilevski?

If so, Yzerman didn't research a single ****ing word this kid said, he said he was done period with his current KHL team, wanted to play in AHL to prove himself.

Or the other way around. Kucherov has said he wants to play in the NHL and came to the combine. I don't know what Gusev want's to do.

Here's what we know from last night

http://www2.tbo.com/sports/lightning...cks-ar-419515/
Quote:
While Vasilenski said he still has two years remaining on his contract with Ufa back in Russia, Murray said Vasilenski is exploring the possibility of coming over to North America next season to play major junior hockey. Vasilenski attended the Memorial Cup last month and has been working out in Ottawa since, according to Murray.

When asked about the situation, Vasilenski, through an interpreter, said, "I have two years left on my contract, but I can't say for sure right now if I will be there the next two years. I'm not sure of all the nuances of the deal, and we'll have to figure it out later. The only thing I can tell you for sure is that I want to play in the NHL.''

Indeed, and Gusev is arguably the better player of the two, has elite playmaking skills, hoping they come over.

Would also like to see a link about the vasilievski quote

No agreements between the KHL and AHL about contracts.

Was looking for it, and remembered I saw it on RMNB

http://www.russianmachineneverbreaks...w-the-goalies/

Only problem is can't find the source would points towards it being said in an Russian interview and its a translation by Fedor Fedin.

Koekkoek isn't a defensive defenseman...

We weren't the only team that passed on Forsberg and Grigorenko either.

I know. I was bummed SFY didn't hire you for your scouting skills, as well.

Toronto picking Rielly really screwed us up. I was sure Burke was going to pick a forward .

But whatever I'm cool with Koekkoek and happy with the draft in general.

Im okay with the draft, nor thrilled nor disappointed but as always, I guess we will have to wait and see how it pans out!

It could just mean he'd be willing to play in the AHL at some point if that's what is needed to get to the NHL. Not necessarily that he wants to play there right now.

From what I've read it seems like a decent draft. We won't know until a few years from now exactly how good it was. Hopefully we will look back at it as a great draft.
