I would be pretty happy if all we did this summer was make minor moves.

The problem is a few minor moves doesn't put us in the scf this year unless kreider helps a lot, Richards is better, dubi rebounds and hags step etc all get better. If we want to keep building, minor moves are fine

If by some chance we could sign Schultz and sign a 3rd line guy who does well on faceoffs and can score 15 goals I'd be thrilled. We can always add more during the season.

Adding a 30-40 goal scorer wouldn't help?

Honestly. Get Ryan. before Philly does...

The way I see it, Philly and Pitts are making moves to become even better than they are. You gotta do something and I'm all for putting faith in Kreider and Cally and Steps to do the job while Gabby is out but it would really be in our best interest to get Ryan.

I agree with the guy a few posts above me, Philly and Pittsburgh are making moves and it isn't even July 1st yet. We need to do something if we are gonna do something at all.

I swear if Pitt gets one of Parise or Suter, and the Flyers get Ryan and Schenn, we are absolutely screwed. I think then we do something stupid and get Nash for an overpayment and at that point he won't even help.

The only thing we have working for us that JVR being sent to TOR was a huge chip that could have went to ANA. They don't want to deal Schenn and Couts is off the table basically so other then that they really don't have much else.

Even if we got Ryan, if the pens got parise it absolutely would not matter what anyone else did. They would be the nhl version of the Miami heat

Philly and Pitt have made moves...but they aren't really any better than they were. Not significantly so anyway.

Yup, Pitts and Flyers are being really aggressive and Parise very well could be going to the Pens and Nash and Ryan are still out there and might go to either team. And like you said, not to mention Suter...I'm starting to think a little differently about who we should trade. Yeah, start with Duby and see if he can be a centerpiece for one of those guys, but if not, we need to get creative and maybe trade someone who we don't want to trade for an offensive threat on this team. The first month especially, without our leading scorer, we will need help.

The key is patience. It's not about making moves...it's about making the right moves.

Exactly. Don't be tempted to force a move if a team in your division or multiple teams are making moves. Don't force it. It could turn out terribly.

They haven't finished making their moves yet.

For all you know by the time they're actually done making all their moves you could wind up see Parise or Suter on Pit and Nash or Ryan of Philly. You never know. Then what? We still can't score and the teams in our division got significantly better.

I'm not saying make a panic move, but they need to find a way to get Ryan, this is shaping up to be an arms race and we better get in it before we're the ones that get blown up.

And I look forward to seeing how their team rounds into shape (particularly on D) when they spend 25M in cap space on 3 forwards.
