David Pollak ‏@PollakOnSharks
Quick research on Tierney shows he was solid in 4th line role w/London - whose reputation for churning out NHL players may have been factor.

David Pollak ‏@PollakOnSharks
Tierney had 11 goals, 34 points in 65 games last season; NHL Central Scouting pegged him at 118th among North American skaters.

Y'know, I don't think there were any trades done during the 2nd round or the 3rd to this point. That's a little weird. Usually by now someone has jumped up to snag a guy they want.

Maybe teams are driving too hard of a bargain.

Due respect, but I hope not. I am not best pleased with the draft strategy if this is how we're using the 2nd round picks we have.

I think he may have more upside than just being an energy guy from what I read. The fact he wasn't being used extensively to start the year by London shouldn't indicate his ceiling, I reckon.

EDIT: Slepyshev is still on the board, BTW.

Do we ever draft pure wingers? Or is it just big-Centers and D-men. I am hoping we play it high risk for one of our picks and pick someone speedy.

A ton of NHL level wingers started out as centers in major junior or college. They'd almost be better off if they just stopped differentiating forward positions and just listed guys as F/D/G

I know plus/minus is a terrible stat to look at without context, but this opened my eyes a little:
2010-11: (-10) in 42 games
2011-12: +25 in 65 games

Along with a tripling in point production it shows me there's something there.

And for your Saturday morning comedy hour....we have Mr. Eklund saying the following:

Yandle for Marleau being discussed

Niemi, Luongo, and Khabibulin being shopped

Penguins showing interest in Boyle

Man, if Eklund is able to do this for a living, I missed the money train.

Not a bad idea. They should give the man his own comedy show.

At the State of the WorSharks last winter Doug Wilson said that almost word for word. He added the LW/C/RW designation is important only as a source of information for scouting.

They could totally play that "wah wah waaaahhhhh" trumpet sound every time he puts out a rumor that doesn't come to pass.

except if the only thing he can put out is the absolute garbage he passes off for "rumors", then it would seem that he obviously doesn't know anyone. If he knew people, he'd get things right once and a while.

I was talking about how he got the job not how he gets his information. Because that is probably just drugs .. lots of them.
