Kompon's Contract will not be Renewed
Helene Elliott @helenenothelen
Kings say they don't expect to offer new contract to assistant coach Jamie Kompon, whose contract expires June 30.
Thanks Jamie for the work but it's about damn time!

Interesting. Thinking they may have someone already in mind if they have already decided that Kompon won't be renewed.

It's got to be either him or one of Darryl's old assistants from his SJ/Calgary days.

Maybe Bernie feels he is ready for the full time job and title.

Soooooo.....even Darryl realized that Kompon sucked?
Welcome to the 2013 Los Angeles Kings Bernie Nicholls. (Really, it's not a HUGE secret we'll be hearing this between now & September.)

Best of luck to Jamie if this is true. All the celebrating here is a little classless considering the guy just helped us win a Cup. I always thought he got way to much of the blame for the Kings power play struggles.

I agree with the general sentiment that this is a positive, but he was good enough at what he did not to deprive us of the Cup. Maybe he even deserves a little credit. (Our PP in the Finals wasn't too bad, right?)
In any event, he was a good guy. I wish him well.

It's kinda funny that after all the times he should've been fired, he actually gets let go after they win the Cup by scoring 3 goals on the PP.
Still, it's the right move. With as much talent as the Kings have, their PP shouldn't be the trainwreck that it is to watch. They're desperately in need of a new system and set plays.

Whoops, wrong thread. Too bad I can't edit, but I'll add this about Kompon, supposedly he's a good video coach, maybe he should return to doing that.

Hallelujah. No brainer. When you have this much talent and you can't make it work... See ya. Accountability is refreshing.

Bernie Nicholls, who spent half of last season with the team and served as a “consultant,” is not believed to be interested in a full-time coaching role (or at least wasn’t, as of a couple months ago).
This per Rich Hammond. Nicholls not going to be the guy.

I have no problem with him leaving. But, it has a lot to do with the players too. Its good to move on. Wish him the best.

Good luck to Kompon wherever he goes. There were some frustrations with him, but he was a part of the Kings who won the cup.
Either way, it'll be interesting to see who is brought in.

Lotta class displayed here.
Kompon really dragged the Kings down this year.
If he did his job, the Kings would've went 16-0 in the playoffs.
