Mike Vogel‏@VogsCaps

The 2d-rounder moved to Dallas in the Ribero deal is the one obtained from Colorado (via BOS) in the Varlamov deal. Eakin 3rd rounder in 09.

sick trade for the good guys. ribs is a legit 2C that puts DC on a level playing field with the likes of philly, pittsburgh and so forth. now we dont have to watch an opposing line with all star centerman come out and completely obliterate mojo and co.

heck of a start to the night. lets get it right with the picks.

whoa..

Nice trade GMGM! Regardless of how it plays out, that's not a lot to give up for a legit 2C solution.

Hopefully Semin stays and we see how it plays out.. but even if he's gone, wings are easier to find, MJ can continue to learn, Galiev is on the horizon, etc.

If nothing else, the Caps 4-4 record in the shootout should improve.

Big fan of this trade.

How did we just get an elite 2C, almost 1C for an absolutely unproven prospect and a second that wasn't even ours?

Aliens.

Great trade IMO. The only negative about Ribeiro is his faceoff work but you can't have everything. Now either resign Semin or replace him with a someone who can feed off Ribeiro's nice setups.

Productive way to utilize Semin's cap space.

I don't love Ribeiro but great trade. Very impressive by GMGM, especially to sell Eakin while he still had value. I don't think he's going to pan out nearly as well as people expected/expect. Good luck to him though; he'll obviously be an NHL player. Great ****ing trade.

with ribs' skill, i'd much rather try to get some power on the wing, not 7min and his underperformance.

Love the deal. Similar to what I wanted at the deadline last season. Would have been nice to get 2 playoff runs with him.

I love what Ribiero brings, potentially, to Ovechkin's game. He's crafty enough to draw the kind of attention that I think Backstrom can't.
