I can't believe Dallas sold him for nothing. He's an undersized flopper, but the man is a 2C. Who shows up in the postseason. Well played McPhee.

Stranded at an airport. Just heard the news. Hell Yes! Gotta give GMGM credit on this one. Now go draft us some young talent, Undertaker.

@Minimo1zero (Brenden Morrow): Goal scoring for @ovi8 just got easier with @ribz63 passing the puck. Enjoy the tap ins.... I did!

Words can not express how happy I am about this. I ****ing LOVE Ribs. I'm a huge Dallas fan, and aside from Eriksson, he was my main squeeze. Can't wait to see him pull some shifty **** in Red.

On top of that I couldn't stand Eakin, so YES.

i checked the boards here earlier today and read page after page about how mcphee sucks. now.....just remember this was a risk averse deal. he gave up nothing and got something good. what we want to see is trading a major roster player or two for a boom or bust return.

oates is next. and the doom can return then

Great trade right there. Ten Nylanders.

Ribeiro is a legitimate locker room irritant, and I wouldn't want to sign him five five years or anything, but that's a legitimate #1b center. The player position we've needed filled since Fedorov is filled, and better than it was then in terms of playmaking and production. A huge move to improve.

I was high on Eakin once, and he may still emerge as a dynamite player down the road. It was clear that if it was going to happen, it was going to take some patience and development time, something that doesn't really fit what the Caps needed at this point in their contention cycle. Good luck to him, but for the Caps, they didn't have to pay a lot to get a whole lot better.

I like the Ribeiro trade a lot but I wonder who he is going to be setting up on that second line as right now I see nobody with much finish at all...

George has to replace Semin - lets give it a week. But yeah, the gaping hole just shifted to wing.

If we stand pat at forward, I expect MJ Brouwer and Laich to fill out our top 6. Maybe Galiev will get a sniff.

Tex thats all you have to say about Rib?

Caps trade of Mike Ribeiro means Alex Semin's days as a Capital are over. How's that make you feel?

Gormley is a few cards short of a deck. Where did they dig this clown up?

Oh Chuck

someone do tell him they play different positions, and they are more likely complimentary players, than not.

McPhee's comment about needing an injection of skill in the top-six actually makes it sound quite the opposite (referring to the playoff lineup, posted in another thread). I think he probably is gone though.

That was my point.

I don't understand how actually getting a solid 2C affects our estranged 2LW who's been looking for someone to help him...

Oh, I got your point. My ire was directed at Gormley.

Maybe someone from the Caps is sending him dumb nuggets to see if he runs with them. Probably laughing about right now out drinking with friends.

Well if you think about it makes sense.

Yes they both don't play the same position but Mike is making 5 Mill

That is Semin right there.

Yes we have more room but we also have to sign all of our RFA (assuming Green) and maybe a FA

The Caps still have plenty of cap room to resign Semin and all their RFAs, and that is not even taking into account Poti's LTIR allowance. It would have nothing to do with that unless Leonsis decided he no longer wanted to spend close to the cap.

We got Rib with no plan to get a goal scoring winger for him?

I believe the cap is set to go up significantly.

If we indeed dont have cap room WRT Green and Carlson, we merely shifted the glaring hole from 2C to 2RW. Do we expect his wingers to be MJ, Chimera.... Galiev. Laich seems entrenched at C.

Lets give George more time before we proclaim Gorms right on this one.

Do you think they are worried about the new CBA?

I think that might entice semin to sign here at a lower $$ and longer term deal(4 years x 5mil). I know many here dont like him, but I think him with a legit 2C would be great for this team. I want to see semin back
