I'm not saying I like any of those players as second line finishers on this team, but it's amusing to me.
I make you laugh, I'm here to F'in amuse you?

Ribeiro's $5 mil cap hit does not fit on last years team. With the current cap projections for next season Ribeiro and Semin easily fit. It is as simple as that.

And feel free to call me out any time...

Who do the Caps play tomorrow?

No one.

They don't need a 2nd line wing tomorrow. They don't need a 2nd line wing to justify the trade. They need a 2nd line wing by the start of training camp. Which is roughly 2 1/2 months away. In between now and then UFA starts, as well. Might be able to get a winger that way. Or via trade.

But tomorrow, the Caps play no one. And in the meantime, they've addressed a significant issue the team's had for awhile. The trade makes perfect sense.

The calling out comment from me was very sarcastic. I wish I could chant "fight!" on the internet.

Well said Marshall. No reason to panic over a problem that doesn't need to be solved right now.

Dallas has had their fair share of quality wingers, and Ribs has gotten plenty of chances to play with them (even when behind Richards on the depth chart). Morrow, Eriksson, Neal, Benn, Ryder, etc.

Eakin has a great motor and attitude...I see him as a very good 3rd line player either at C or at wing. Heart and soul guy...but not in Bergeron's class.
I liked him too as a prospect. A classic case of giving up something to get a need and worth it. I think he'll have a good NHL career.

Sorry to bust you bubble

I grew up in the same neighborhood as Ribeiro and i'm the same age as him. this guy is a classless punk. we had to kick him out of Montreal because he was such a problem. for a team who needs to play more like a team to achieve success, Ribeiro is one of the worst guys you could of brought in. he is disliked by most of his team mates and he is a cancer on a team. sure he will put up points but the negative energy this guy carries with him is toxic. i think this is a sad move for the Caps, i feel bad for Ovechkin and i think that if this year is as bad as last for him he will want out. i don't think too many guys on the team are excited to play with this jerk.

hey but thats just my 2 cents.

In other words, the type of player expected to carry the second line.

Yeah, well, my cousin's uncle's neice twice removed is best friends with a pizza guy who delivers to Riberios favorite barber in Montreal and he says Riberio is a stand up dude.

that's besides the point. the guy is a cancer, you will soon find out, just giving my predictions. I like the Caps by the way, i just don't like the direction the team is taking.

Dude, when you come in bashing a player a team just acquired, and you have no previous history of posts, people are gonna assume you're a troll. Especially since your bashing of Ribeiro is so extreme that it comes off as not very believable. Among other things, Caps are known to inquire about character, so if Ribeiro's rep is as bad as you make it sound to be, it's hard to believe they wouldn't have heard of it. At this point, judging from your post, we ought to expect Ribeiro to start kicking random puppies the moment he lands in DC, lol.

Seems like pre draft GMGM talked about the character of the player being a major factor.

Lawl at that guy. There's Ribs from Montreal, and Ribs from Dallas. Two totally different people. ... His talent is immense, he was very well liked in Dallas, and is a perfect fit here in Washington. The diving and whining have decreased tenfold with him the last few seasons. Hire a strong offensive mided coach and he'll surely be putting up better numbers than he ever has. Especially if we can keep Semin around with him.
