not cap space damnit. Real actual money that can be spent on whatever the **** they want.
Doesn't change the fact that now the team needs a center, and the only UFA center capable of carrying the second line is Olli Jokinen. Overpaying to entice Jokinen to Dallas is terrible.
We have a new billionaire owner with deep pockets, who wants to win.
He's going to be spending money either way.
There is no chance this deal was made for cap reasons.
I'm not saying it was
I'm saying that before you close the book on this deal, consider that we WILL be signing someone with that $5,000,000 to take Mike Ribeiro's place, and that player WILL produce value for this team, so atleast ****ing wait to see what they do before we all go jump off a ****ing building.

so make a trade for some guy that gets paid too much for a nominal prospect or pick in next year's draft. The point is that whatever happens there will be someone playing 2nd line center next year and they may turn out even better than Ribeiro if Dallas plays their cards right.
you know what you guys are right, Mike Ribeiro was the best signing ever at 5 million and there is no possible way that Dallas could spread that money over their roster more efficiently. I mean we're probably best off just not icing a team next year.

Jesus christ.
If the Stars needed to free that money up, Gaglardi is going to be a terrible owner.

For real. People need to get away from the ledge. Riberio wasn't a part of this team's future.
I'm mad about the return, but I'm happy with Faska and don't think many teams outside of WSH in the East were in the mix.
You do realize that teams don't function on monopoly money?
I have no sympathy for billionaire owners. I want my team spending every penny it wants to spend. After four years of being owned by creditors, I don't want to hear about budgets.
Yeah, not a great return but it is what it is. Fans can get together and "decide" a player's value but ultimately reality sets in. Wish we could have gotten a better prospect if we weren't going to get a 1st round pick though.
Still hoping we can pull off some kind of deal with Boston for Spooner. Just add enough talented forwards/centers and something should work. Throw enough **** against the wall and eventually something will stick, right?
