I'm mad about the return, but I'm happy with Faska and don't think many teams outside of WSH in the East were in the mix.
I don't care that he was traded. I just hope there's a plan in place to replace him.

Kept hearing Ribeiro was an issue in the dressing room. Maybe that's why he was traded.
You guys should WAIT on Eakin. He scored 91 points in the WHL one year. He's more than a third line player and wasn't going to get that Washington. This is a solid move for Dallas and I can't wait to see what else is coming down the pipe because the money moved in this deal gives us MORE room to make some good offers to FA.
I love this trade. Not a big Ribs fan anymore and he had to go.
Ott and Morrow next?
Side note: The Caps asked about Ribs at the deadline so this has been brewing for a few months now.

Ribs is one of my favorite players but I'm not surprised to see him go. It's been obvious for a while that the team has been wanting to move on from him. His long shifts and playing style have not agreed with the last couple of coaches now. His bad reputation just wasn't enough to get a first round pick in return but I'm going to take a wait and see approach on Eakin.

Eakin is our new 2nd line center. He tore the WHL up and then was good for Washington in the playoffs. Step away from the ledge.
Now let's move Morrow and Robidas and get this rebuild started.

Eh, I have to disagree. This is the only trade I've hated. Unlike probably most here, I am OK with the Goligoski trade, and the Lehtonen trade was awesome.

So he replaces ribs- that's not good for offense- face-offs? Defense? Is he a better wandell or a stu barnes starter kit?

He'll be a great 3rd line center once Faksa's ready. Definitely sounds like a GMJN guy, though.
This is one of those trades that looks a bit better each time I look at it.

I certainly hope you are right, otherwise you are going to endure a fair bit of pain rooting for the Stars

Well played.
Seriously though, I'm starting to really like Eakin. He sounds like a guy GMJN just got too attached to, though.

People want to bash Ribs that's fine but let's think about the offense the last two years without him. Is he really the one who held this team back?

If they're blaming him, they sure as hell better be blaming Morrow as well.

No argument here that they haven't gotten the job done in four years, Tom.
But you keep Steve freakin' Ott over Mike Ribeiro?
Really ?

Ott is a good 3rd line option. Morrow needs to go though.
