Absolutely destroys the hell out of Ribeiro, yes. Like Jack Johnson did earlier this year.

I still have a feeling there was a lot going on with Ribeiro off the ice we don't know about.

The thing that concerns me about making more trades like this and not qualifying a ton of these 3rd and 4th liners on the team is that our team is looking mighty empty at every forward position in terms of NHL ready forwards. I hope it doesn't force us to call some guys up who simply aren't ready. I can't think of a single center we have that is really ready for a top 6 role right now anywhere in the organization. People are saying they think GMNJ has something up his sleeve, but usually you acquire that thing [I]before[I] you ship out the guy at that position.

Who knows, maybe Gaglardi wanted him gone yesterday at the latest, or maybe Ribs isn't looked at well in this league. You do have to admit that with Washington, they're ok with taking the misfits of this league. Whether that's in the form of a temperamental Russian or two, or whether it's in the form of Mike Ribeiro.

I don't get why Eakin can't slot in as the #2 center, at least for a bit. We only need someone there for a year or two until Faksa is ready.

You are over estimating prospects ability to pan out, only about 60% of first round picks have an nhl career much less pan out as top 6 players

Sorry for not expecting my team's prospects to fail and be a bust.

Depends on what we'd have to give up.... Something like Ott, glennie and a pick I wouldn't care... But not a first or a top prospect

As long as he's cheap to acquire.

Wouldn't mind Statsny, but I assume the price is more than what we would want to pay.

I'd rather hope Eakin doesn't become the only hope for 2nd line center next season. Preferably a stop-gap UFA, or Glennie steps up to take a top six role (don't care if it's center, or as a wing with a UFA center).

The Heika article also makes me hate the trade and everything even more.

No, he's a bum that would be lucky to get 5M. Only sign for 3M, not a penny more.

I'm terribly confused what the Dallas plan is. Pull an Oilers, play kids all year, and miss the playoffs another 3 years?

Kari is going to be worked like a dog.

It would be awesome to do that and get Jones, but you just know the NHL would screw us over and give the #1 to another team. Especially if Edmonton, or any Canadian or eastern team, finishes that low. You know they would get it over us. Ugh.

At this point, MacKinnon's going first.

Yes because the draft order is set a year before it even happens

Which is why I said at this point.

If nothing major changes, Jones could even go 3rd. Reminds me of '09 a bit, with the superstar center that's breaking records, the hulking defenseman, and a late riser (there are multiple candidates for the last spot, however).

all of the *****ing going on in here is about on the same level as looking in Colorado's page on capgeek and saying "holy ****, Colorado only has 7 forwards and 4 defencemen signed for next year right now? how are they going to compete with those players?"

there's still 15-20 million to be spent on this roster you clowns. Atleast wait until after the roster is complete before you decide we're destined for the lottery.

Ribeiro is a classless bum, and a cancer on any team

what a sad day for Caps fans, this organization is going down the tube, i grew up in the same neighborhood as Ribeiro and was in the same grade as him, what a looser this guy is, he is hated by most of his team mates everywhere he goes. i was very happy when we dumped him on Dallas but felt bad for Dallas fans.

Ovechkin must be telling himself " why did they trade for this guy? why are they making these bad decisions? we we're and offensive juggernaut a couple years ago and now everything is falling apart".

another season like last year and Ovechkin will want out.

i'm very mad that this Punk is going to play for the Caps, what a cancer.

I don't think Washington's afraid of those personalities. And I think he'll mesh pretty well with Ovi, too.

Anywhere else and he'd suck.

Everybody has tons of money. There's not tons of money players hitting free agency. The math doesn't add up. Many teams will be left with $10 million in cap space.

We'll see who the clowns are when all the big names flock to Pittsburgh and Detroit.

Ribeiro is fine on a team where there are OTHER leaders. As in, he can just sit back and be a slick playmaker while the other guys take all the heat and pressure in the spotlight. I think where things get iffy is when you're counting on Ribs to be your go-to guy and lead the team.

So with Backstrom, Ovechkin, Green, etc. he'll do just fine.
