Add the 31st pick and the ability to flip first round picks next year. Getting closer?

Getting another 2nd rounder or early 3rd would be very useful in this draft.

I have to say no. The Oilers need Gagner as the second line center. Can you imagine Horcoff centering Eberle/hemsky or Yako. I would fringe at that idea.

My belief is that; Hemsky goes for a D'man. I bet Toronto is the team seeing how they lack offensive talent. Hesmky + 2nd for Schenn could make sense.

Couple things.

Lubo, 2nd rounder is good value for Isles. I would've thought ANA could've got a bit more.

Ryan, feel for you and agree 100%. Some brought it up on here about what is Murray doing talking about names and look what happened.

Staal, Shero that is the trade of the year. There is no way you should get that much for Staal who made it clear CAR only. What would a signed Staal be worth around the league?

Michalek, did he ask for a trade? Seems like they got crap for him.

Missed Oppertunity with trades?

Cant help but thinking we had a chance to really solidify our team for so cheap on day one.

Vis for our 2nd
Michalek for Our 3rd this year and next year
Ribero for our 2nd and Ana 2nd next year

Those are all better value than what the other teams got.

We could have been icing this line up next year:

Hemsky-RNH-Yak
Hall-Ribs-Eberle
Horcoff-Belanger-Jones
MPS-Gagner-Eager

Vis-Michalek
Smid-Petry
Schultz-Whitney

DD-Khabi

Yes I did the math and we would be right at the cap assuming the cap dose not go up which it likely would. What holes would this team have? The best part is that Vis, Whit, Khabi and Ribs would come off the books after next year so we dont have to worry about signing Hall and Ebs, and we still have Michalek which is probable the only guy I would keep for sure out of the 3.

Vis already requested a trade from Edmonton. Zyb has a NTC.

Do not want a bad character guy like Riberio

Visnovsky wanted out first time in edmonton - they weren't re-aquiring him

Michalek had a NTC, and was likely traded back to Phx for a reason when Paul Martin would probably have been a better option for pittsburg to move.

Ribero is a decent player, but likely considered redunant by the organization that is carrying Gagner, and doesn't really fit the bigger 2nd line center type.

Either the opportunity wasn't there, or they weren't interested. No missed opportunities here.

Yeah. This.

I'm really not too worried about missing out on any of these deals.

Well said.
No chance on these guys but I think it shows the market for such players is a cheaper than expected for potential future trades.

Yeah, Vis already asked out once before, no way we'd be bringing him back.

Michalek is a decent shutdown guy, but we have a few guys in his mold already on the team, what we need is a good puck moving guy.

No interest in Ribero.

If Yandle gets moved for a low-to-reasonable return and we're not in on that. . . then I'd be disappointed.

These moves, I don't care about.

Michalek would have been a good pickup, but if he's not interested in coming here it's a moot point. I'd still be interested in Paul Martin from the Penguins, but not sure that they will move him now.

I will say this, with Defensemen available this weekend, I want to see the Oilers do Something, because they really need help

Martin, Hjalmarsson(sp), Montador aren't elite defensemen, but they inprove this group.

What are peoples opinions on Marc Methot? What would the cost be to get him from CBJ? I think he would be a decent pickup if he can be had for cheap.

How's an Amish farmer going to be an improvement on a half Wizard?
