The status quo (re: vets) arent cutting it.

I would like to see Paajarvi get a full year in OKC. Im almost positive he will either be given a spot on the Oilers to start the year and/or he will be hopping back and forth between Edmonton and OKC.

Hartikainen should have another year of seasoning in OKC as well.

Hemsky should be dealt at the deadline, if he isnt hurt again, and hopefully he produces so we could actually get something for him.
KHB since JAn. 1W-11L-4OL .877 save %.

If dubnyk plays those games from Ja. we would be +14 points. making us 88pts.

90% of games for dubnyk. At his win rate (from jan. on) we would be a 98 point team without changing anything!

that is a start!

Hemmer has played some LW in the past...and really, he set the bar low this past season. Shouldn't be too terribly difficult to improve on 36 points in 69 games. lol

Also, I can already imagine Hemmer rushing down the left wing, curling back to find the open man and setting up Yakupov for his blistering one-timer. Could be a thing of beauty!

If we are selecting Yakupov (which is the play of choice in my opinion) then the logical move would be to put a playmaker in Hemmer alongside.

A second line of Hemmer-Gagner-Yak Attack would be an interesting, albeit soft as butter, selection.

As much as I love the offensive promise of the kids plus the above line, I don't like how easy they would be to move off the puck.

Dear Hartikainen,

Please get better.

Love,

Oiler Management

Belanger and jones were both top 7 for Pk for there positions center and wing.

So there is a start to our fourth line.

Trade hemsky? and move gagner?

Hall-XXX-yakupov/rieder
XXX-Gagner-Hemsky PPG players together.

Because I said we should move them? I've been all for keeping Belanger, Jones, Hemsky, and Gags

Your forward group looks eerily similar to the one that finished 29th...

They would be beauty on the PP. Maybe Horcoff wouldn't be so bad with them even strength.

Either Hemsky or Gagner need to go if we're taking Yakupov. We can't have an entire top 6 of average sized to smurf sized forwards. A Ryan Clowe type player or even a Paajarvi or Hartikainen would be a better fit on the second line.

Paajarvi is soft as butter. Unless you're just talking about height in this post.

And with Yakupov, I feel that's a more than capable group of forwards

Agreed. Gags, and even Hemmer, are far more physical than Paajarvi. If you're moving one of them to add Harti, then ok. But not PRV. He's as soft as they come right now. He needs more time in the AHL to try and turn it around

AKA the "magic formula" approach.

Also, neither Paajarvi nor Hartikainen play center, so I guess you want Horcoff back on the second line?

I have not problem with Hall, RNH, Eberle, Yakupov, Gagner and Hemsky be our top 6 next year just to see how it works out, it will only work out if one of Hemsky or Yak can play left wing. If one of them can't then one has to go and moving Yak does not make sense.

I guess Tambo would have to wait to see if Yakupov even makes the team this year. If he does, and jumps into the NHL successfully, do you look at trading Hemsky later in the season?

It's a moot point if Nail doesn't even stick with the big club.

I dunno, I wouldn't worry too much, Ebs-RNH-Hall isn't a big line by any means, and they do fine.

Difference is, the kids play far bigger than they are.

True, but I wouldn't say Gagner plays his size by any means. Hemmer, yes. Nail, remains to be seen.

Plus if they're playing as a second unit, they won't necessarily see the big defensive pairing of the other teams.

I wouldnt have been against trading our 2013 2nd + for Ribeiro. Especially if Gagner is on his way out for a dman.

I would really like the Oilers to push for Ott now. And I hope they've called Anaheim.

Oh and Stauff said he wouldn't be surprised to see the Oil and Jackets swing a deal, winger for a defenseman as each team have surpluses of each.

Would not be surprised if the Oilers and Blue Jackets swung a deal. The 'Jackets could afford to move a D and the Oil have extra wingers

Stauffer also just name-dropped Hemsky as in play now.
