Extremely. I don't see it happening. How can you trade the guy after re-signing him prior to UFA. For a team with such problems attracting UFAs, you absolutely cannot till at very least, the trade deadline of next year.
I just don't see it unless we're a bottom feeder again by the trade deadline.
Sharks signed Setoguchi and dealt him literally a week later.
Flyers traded Carter and Richards.
It's different when the players signed their contracts as RFAs. They would've had to sign a contract with their new team anyway. Hemsky had the option of picking a new team but he chose to stay here instead.
Although I do think the Richards and Carter trades were slimy from Philidelphia since they were long term contracts. We'll see if Philidelphia has trouble signing players to longterm contracts without no trade clauses from now on.
But I don't think they are in a win now mode.. That is a massive trade, so I don't see why they couldn't just wait. Now they have holes to fill and no draft pick.
Why wouldn't they be? Their biggest concern was depth up front and they just got a big, skilled, two-way centerman and only gave up one roster player in the process. They still need a little more help up front, but they've got most of the major pieces in place.
