Apparently Russo says that the Dumba family went to last year's draft and his parents said it would be great if the Wild drafted him. It was an inside joke in the family for over a year leading up to now. Then the Wild draft him, fantastic.

Here are my two pair... not the exact colors but close. The first - has red ear socks instead of black as in the picture, the second, the frame is a lighter color and doesn't say Oakley across the bridge (they started doing that a few years after I purchased that design).

So we're a joke to the Dumba family, huh?

Explains why he sounded so honest when he was talking about how much he loved the city of St. Paul.

He actually wants to be here?

I'm kind of stunned, honestly.

I don't blame them, he's a Burke kind of guy too, just another sign Burke's going off the rails up here.

Looks like our D on the right side will be set for a while now with Gilbert, Spurgeon and Dumba. Not real high on Prosser but I'm sure Dumba will pass him up in no time. Suter is the missing piece. Would love a defense like this a few years from now:

Suter - Gilbert
Brodin - Dumba
Scandella - Spurgeon
Falk

I thought he said the city of Minnesota in 1 interview?

I'm sure it's on Wild TV.

Yup. He did. But he was all hopped up from being drafted. I forgive him.

I don't get it myself.

The Leafs are in similar situation as we were a few years ago. We thought out defense depth was solid, but that was just because our forward depth was so bad. Once we started to get forward talent, we started to realized we had no talent on the blueline.

A blueline starring Marco Scandella isn't a very high end one.

With the Leafs, they have Blacker and Percy, not guys who are bluechip prospects. Rielly gives them that.

I think Burke made a decent choice.

He was asked about Minnesota and he replied with "it's a great city." He quickly clarified he was talking about St. Paul, not Minnesota.

Well Russo says in the article that Dumba is aware that we're quite barren on D-man depth here so I'm guessing he knows he's got a damn good chance to stay here for a long time.

For anyone that wants to read the article, here's the link:

Gardiner is going to be really good as well. Minnetonka represent!

Actually it was Burke's pick of Reilly instead that sent the whole draft off in a tailspin so we can thank him for that.

Yeah it was the Wild TV one where he had just gotten picked. I'm sure he was still pretty excited from just being on stage. He'll learn quickly...or else.

I'm coming around to the pick already. I originally wanted us to move down but I understand why that wasn't an option. At the end of the day we got better today and our already strong prospect pool got a ton better. Lets keep it going tomorrow. Still really hoping we get Parise and/or Suter. Those two guys would really help out this roster.
