Good for Trevor. Three games is a start, even if only for Columbus. I should back off on my listing Bjugstad for now, as technically he hasn't made the NHL yet. And I know Dr. Jan will nail me on that fact.

I've looked through the draft threads on about 15 other team's boards. General opinion on Dumba seems to be that he's a good fit with us and is what we needed. Oiler fans didn't like it because they don't want his big hits injuring their players. Overall it was a pretty expected pick. A lot of posters had us picking either Forsberg (they thought every team that was on the clock would pick him because he kept falling) or Teuvo because of our Finnish connection.

Meh, I ain't getting technical at 2am. He'll make it eventually as I think Florida could use a 4th line center

Dumba + Clutterbuck + Powe + Bulmer.

Question: how many #1 overall picks can we knock seven shades of **** out of?

My take...

http://www.stateofhockeynews.com/201...raft-wild.html

I have to say, this selection pleases me. It makes sense, and while he wasn't my top choice its pretty tough for me to criticize this pick. I write my analysis as well as my thoughts on Dumba's selection here. Enjoy!

So where does Dumba fit in our prospects list now?

1. Granlund
2. Coyle
3. Brodin
4. Dumba
?

Or is he ahead of Brodin?

Don't forget Zucker, Coyle and Larsson. Heard they are pretty gritty as well. Scandella a bit too.

I know this answer Doctor Jan. All of them. Then Bouchard gets a goal and two assists.

Here's our glimpse at Dumba, who might be my personal favorite from the draft:

Quote:
Smooth, explosive and dynamic, Dumba is an extremely powerful skater with nice fluid, long strides. He can change his angles, make moves on a dime and is very agile on his skates. He has the ability to either blow by a defender on the rush or keep up with any forward while playing in his own zone. He has great vision and can make nice stretch passes or send out nice saucer passes. He has soft hands receiving the puck from his teammates as well. His shot is dynamic, both his wrist shot and slap shot and both are very hard and extremely accurate. He has a good release and can score off the rush by using a quick shot from well out.

Looking forward to Clutter (who, btw, is listed at 5' 11"), Brodz, Powe/Bulmer, and Dumba on the ice at the same time.

Pain. Major pain. Yeo wants to be "hard to play against"? There ya go.

For the Wild? Butch will probably never have another 3 point game in the NHL, let alone for the Wild.

Is it wrong that I'm more excited for Dumba than I am Brodin?

Can't hate on it, that's for sure. Everybody gets to quibble, but really hard to hate on this one.

Dumba is the more exciting player, so no. I'm now more excited for Dumba than I am for all of our other prospects.

He's easily the more exciting player, even if Brodin is the more complete player.

I'm the opposite. For some reason, I appreciate Brodin's style of play alot more than Dumba's.

I like this pick. I wanted Trouba, but after reading how well Dumba did in the U-18s, I figured he'd be the pick.

One of the draft tendencies we all missed is the fact that F&F love kids who do well in U-18s. Johan Larsson/Gustafsson/Granlund and now Dumba.

That doesn't change the fact that Dumba is a more exciting player. You can like a players game and appreciate it more, but still have the other player be more exciting. It's just a fact. The style Dumba plays gets the adrenaline pumping more.

"Exciting" is really a personal preference, and for me, I'm alot more excited about Brodin than Dumba.

Not knocking on Dumba.

Maybe it is because I know Brodin isn't highly viewed by other fanbases, that when he spits on their face with a nifty move, I feel more accomplished lol

EDIT: That I find exciting, proving other team's fans wrong.
2xedit: I find OEL more exciting than Doughty. So maybe I'm weird

I think that's a different kind of excitement as well. You look forward to him making the team sooner etc, thus have more anticipation to see him on the roster.

When we say Dumba is a more exciting player, we're talking about his style of play on the ice breeds excitement in the stands the same way Brent Burns did.

Back in the season we went to the playoffs to face Anaheim... Kim Johnsson was clearly the Wild's BEST defenseman the entire year, but Burns was still BY FAR the more exciting player.

Eh, whatever. We have two exciting defensive prospects, let's agree at that
