Judging from Fletcher's comments, he had Dumba ranked top 5 at a minimum. Judging from Flahr's interest, they had Galchenyuk top 2. It's possible that Lindholm was ranked higher than Dumba, but I doubt it and haven't seen anything anywhere to make me think otherwise.

If I can get my car fixed in the next 2-3 hours, I've decided I'm going to dedicate my night to making a kick ass Dumba wallpaper. I'll keep everyone tuned in.

Thinking back to round 1, CF did seem a bit stunned or something. I kind of had the feeling he was planning on "stealing" another top swede in Hampus. Either way, I think Dumba is a prime prospect and expect him to have an impact quickly.

This will make you happy - someone posted some honcho's draft grades over in the prospect forum - none of the prospects above the Wild could garner better than straight Bs.

Quote:
7.) Minnesota Wild – Matt Dumba, D, Red Deer Rebels (WHL) – Nothing much to see here: Matt Dumba was great fit for a Minnesota team in need of blue-chip defensemen. As Dumba may have been the best blueliner on the market since Murray (and some would argue – in the NHL Draft’s entirety), the pick was a great value-selection. The Wild’s prospect corps just continues to get better and better.

21.) Calgary Flames (From NSH) – Mark Jankowski, C, Stanstead College (Quebec Prep) – Oh Jay Feaster, you provide us all with so much unintentional humor. After trading out of pick-fourteen (when he had a chance to select any number of solid forward-prospects), Feaster went for the home-run selection with Mark Jankowski. He’s a kid with first-line upside – but is a long way from ready and could be a major miss. I don’t dislike the target – but Jankowski would probably still be on the table towards the very end of the first round of the NHL Draft (if not significantly into the second). This could go oh so wrong for Calgary – and that wouldn’t be out-of-character in the slightest.

Value Grade: (D); Fit Grade: (B); Overall Grade: (C)

Poor Jankowski. It's not his fault.

I disagree wholeheartedly on the Jankowski comments. He would not have made it out of the first round. Calgary traded back once to pick up additional assets to pick him. It's just typical "CHL > All" ******** about a non-traditional prospect. Jankowski was one of the best selections of the round, especially considering who selected him.

No way would he have made it to the second round. At least 2 other teams were targeting him.

I would hope he is back in the WHL next year, kicking azz and taking names, getting bigger and stronger. After that, who knows...?

He will be given a shot in camp this year. I would be extremely surprised if he made the team, but that's the starting point for your time frame.

That I 100% disagree with. The writer even wrote himself "He’s a kid with first-line upside".

At that point in the draft, Jankowski had the highest impact upside and I am 100% sure a team would have picked him between 20-30.

If Flames liked him, they made the right choice.

id guess another year with the Red Deer, then a good shot at making the team in 2013-2014.

Excited to see how he developes. cant wait for him and Brodin to be anchoring our D for along time (unless Suter comes here )

Hopefully he follows the same path as Brodin and this time next year we are talking about dumba having a decent chance of making the team.
If the Wild are able to add a quality dman this offseason it would probably eliminate any need to fastrack him though.
