Unless it came out today, the team hasn't announced camp invites yet. I asked Russo shortly after the draft and he said he hadn't heard anything yet but Fletcher said he would be inviting a lot of them. I wonder if some of the invitees are going to be guys who already went to another prospect camp (NYR's is going on right now) since ours is somewhat late.

As I had mentioned a few pages back, there is a prospect allegedly going to Europe instead of the CHL if he does not make his team. Vancouver's 2011 first round pick (29th overall) Nicklas Jensen of Denmark will leave the Oshawa Generals of the CHL for some European League (I haven't seen where exactly) if he doesn't make the Canucks out of training camp.

Wow. That could set a precedent.

In UFA, there's Suter, Garrison, and Carle. Those guys are getting $6-8m per. Only three guys, and a lot of teams after them. Detroit's going to get one, Philly's going to get one, and Pittsburgh's going to go hard for one.

If the Wild strike out and can't trade for Paul Martin, we could see Dumba because there's no alternative.
A couple of 2nd tier vets maybe. Colaiacovo, Allen, Salvador (3rd tier?) but yeah, pretty dry.

kinda scary. Instead of complaining about GMs rushing prospects some people are going to complain that we didn't just make a spot for them instead of risking losing them overseas.

Honestly I hope it does. A lot of times it just feels like a prospect is wasting a year playing hockey on easy mode in the CHL until they can qualify for the AHL.

why i want Dumba in the NHL. Chance for development progression is much greater IMO playing fewer minutes in the NHL than 30-40 minutes with the Rebels playing against far inferior comp. only argument with validity is size, and Dumba is already as big or bigger and probably stronger than some of our D.

Who was getting third and fourth line minutes. Different scenario considering, since Dumba would be getting very generous minutes.

Nino was playing about 5 minutes a night on the 4th line.

Yeah he had little minutes but Dumba would probly be on our 3rd pairing if he plays in the NHL and getting around 10-15min?

Also, Nino was only up to try save the Isles money. He had a $2.8MM cap hit (because of bonus clauses) but only a $925k salary. He's not a good example of CHL vs NHL or development issues. NYI would have been forced to keep him with the team whether he could go to the AHL or not.

15 minutes a night in the NHL COULD be better for his developement than 25 in the CHL. If Dumba proves that he is good enough to lock down a spot among the wilds d-corps, I could see him sticking with the club.

I just don't see it, its way different to move back to familiar country/continent than doing 1-year stint just for the sake of perhaps improved developement..

Moving to Euro from NA can very very difficult for kids who all their lives played on the smaller ice, while in Jensens case, he grew up if i am not mistaken in denmark and thus it would be an easier transition for him. He will be a case not the exception, plus its a dumb thing for him to say, what if the Nucks put him on their 4th line all year?

Serioiusly tho, as far as we have seen, Wild have drafted character kids who work their ***** off and don't ***** and demand, if this holds true I will be so thankful we don't have to deal with a me first prima donna.

As far as Dumba goes, some of his chances depend on the FA market, if we get suter there might be one spot in the top 4. (Scandella, BNTG, Suter) so it would be between him, spurgie, and Brodin.

However if we don't get suter, then there might be up to two spots, it will all depend on him and how he does to show he is ready. I have full faith in GMCF, that he will do whats best for the long term interest of Mathew Dumba.

I really like the idea of Dumba putting that whining baby through the glass.
