Just to get a sense of what trading up takes, last year San Jose traded the 59th and a 2012 3rd (Florida's) to move up to pick 47. Also, Vancouver traded the 60th pick to Minnesota for the 71st (3rd) and 101st (4th).

So you're looking at trading the two 3rds to get into the latter portion of the 2nd.

You mean the group of middle aged family friends?

Really? Looked like family not hood-rats to me.

The Ceci family are all Sens fans & wanted him to be drafted by the Sens, pretty obvious except what if another team drafted him? It almost seemed like all the teams were getting the guys they wanted in their draft positions.

I'm a big believer in Ceci. He was easily one of my top 10 guys in this draft (#5 actually). Sens made out like gangbusters here.

Anyone think we might try to get into the 2nd and draft Dansk?

Would make sense for Columbus to grab him to open the 2nd unless they love someone who dropped out of the 1st

Here's a neat picture I found on one of Ceci's draft profile videos:

yeah, that's my sense with trading for a 2nd this year, though there could be any number of prospects the sens like there. Packaging 2 3rds for dansk might not be a bad idea if someone goes for it around ~45 (assuming he's still available there).

Very happy with the ceci pick. Like many, wasnt sure he would actually fall to 15. Maata is probably the only one i would've wanted as much with the board we were dealt, but i still had ceci over maata.

Someone mentioned anaheim picked lindholm too early... i disagree. If they liked him enough, take him. There's no guarantee that he'll still be there 5 spots later, someone else might like him too. Rankings arnt everything, see karlsson.

Really worried about the great draft buffalo had tonight. Those two are going to be tough to play against in 3 years. Montreal got galchenyuk which was unavoidable, but hopefully they screw up on tougher picks tommorow. Toronto got a good dman, for sure, but he doesnt worry me in terms of our future ability to beat them.

re trades: we didnt have a chance on staal, no need to complain there. He wanted to play with eric. Ribs wouldnt have added much to our team, i'm fine with what we have down the middle for now. Vishnovsky is someone i hope we were in on... i can understand anaheim choosing a NYI 2nd over ours though, and not prepared to give up a 1st for him, but i hope murray at least kicked the tires on that one. Michalek... how the hell did we not offer more than that for him? I'd have to think the pens wouldve done him the courtesy to see if he could play in ottawa. Maybe murray played hardball, maybe they just wanted him out of the conference, but either way, we should have ponied up for him, we need him.

I must say I really really wanted Teravainen, but Ceci sure isn't someone I'm going to complain about.

If they're his friends and family, then they wouldnt have wanted him to be drafted by the leafs, even if they are leafs fans.

Why would you wish that upon anyone you loved?

I hate to say it, but I agree with Burke when he says they got the best player in Reilly. He's gonna be a freaking stud. I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it. The Leafs are behind the curve when it comes to draft strategy, usually taking big bruisers over skill (or trading them away lololol) but they finally caught up to the rest of the league with this pick.
