Will Buffalo move a center?

Tyler Ennis is arguably better at C than on the wing, Derek Roy and Cody Hodgson are obviously centers, Luke Adam can play C or the wing. They already had quite a few centers, and they just nabbed two of the top centers in the 2012 draft, Grigorenko and Girgensons. Anyone else feel that they'll be moving 1 or 2 of these guys in the next year or so?

people say they've been shopping Derek Roy. He is up at the end of the year anyway. There also trying hard at Ryan and maybe Nash.

Cody Hodgson will ask for a trade once they give ice time to their new prospects.

Yeah, I can easily see them going hard after either of these guys with Roy and another piece or two. They'll definitely be dealing from a position of strength. Still not sure if they have anyone who's a true stud #1 C, but they certainly have a TONNE of pretty good young centers, and sometimes that can be just as good.

Or, more likely, if and when the organization ****s all over him for getting injured, if he does.

They've got some time to figure it out. Both the guys they drafted aren't playing in the NHL next year. At least, I don't think so.

Grigorenko has a shot at making the team next fall. Girgensons will probably be 2-3 years off.

Can't Grigensons play in the AHL next year?

Really? Cause he was in the USHL? That'd be great for him I think. Development wise and everything else considered, I think if that is the case, that'd be the best place for him.

As for Grigorenko, I think he has a chance to make the team.

In regards to the total number of centers, I see Roy as the one most likely to go. maybe package him, along with next years 1st, and another piece or two (Sekera, Leopold, Pysyk, McNabb, Brennan, Enroth, Miller, Adam, or Tropp could all be possibilities) for Bobby Ryan would make the team extremely dangerous.

Maybe Roy, 2013 1st, Adam, and Pysyk for Bobby Ryan?

Obviously if Miller were involved, it'd have to have Hiller coming back, but I doubt it happens.

But still, imagine...

Leino-Hodgson-Pominville
Vanek-Grigorenko-Ryan
Foligno-Ennis-Stafford
Gerbe-FA/McCormick-Kaleta/Tropp

That's 3 legit scoring lines right there.

Can, but won't. He's committed to the University of Vermont -- he's been really consistent in asserting that. Sabres might try to convince him to go into the AHL or Kelwona, but he seems set on Vermont for now. imo, probably a good choice for his development.

And when Grig moves to center, Armia can take his spot on RW and Roy can play in any city that signs him.

Very possible. Consistent scoring is needed now, and Regier knows this. So far, he's played it right in my opinion in any event. Gave up next to nothing to bring size and skill to the pivot position.
He has a solid defense going, and a solid pipeline to back it for a good bit.
Yes, forwards are still shallow, one RW'er and a couple of centers in the system that are serious potential could be bolstered.

I'll wait and see how the off season pans out and what moves he makes to bring instant change to this roster, but so far, the future looks decent.

So... Maybe Dallas would be interested in Roy now. What would it cost?

No. Roy isn't getting dealt for garbage. 65 point players aren't getting dumped for a low pick. Ribeiro was an exception but he is also 3 years older then Roy.

I don't see the Sabres moving Roy unless they're bringing a center back (even if it's a sizable third-line vet with defensive chops). You can't count on Grigs, and Ennis and Hodgson are young, young. You need a vet top-9 center somewhere.

Agreed. I see Roy's exit at the deadline next season. Flip a coin I guess.

I'd like to make a move for a more consistent young scorer though, winger or other wise.

A few names are out there.
And then there is always the Parise sweepstakes

How the heck is playing college hockey better than playing in the AHL for a players development??

Playing against their own age group and physically maturing with them is typically a better path than guys who turn pro and have to face up to mature players in a men's league. AHL is not the best option for Girgensons, Kelowna or Vermont is.

Good one! I certainly haven't heard this one today from a Vancouver fan!

That was sarcasm, by the way.

Also, if any of them are moved, it will be Roy.

Is anyone really expecting Grigorenko or Girgensons to make the team out of camp or something?
