Wilson with a pretty high hit, bloodies the guys nose. Obviously limited by the face shield. Probably not the best fighter, but certainly offers some snarl.

He filled him up pretty good, huh?

WTF? Canadians got some weird phrases, because in America that would mean something really different.

Side note, I am surprised neither Aberg or Collberg got drafted in the 1st.

If he can skate a little, he's a 4th liner at worst.

I was commenting on the comment by the commentator. Comment.

He said Wilson filled him up pretty good, which makes no sense as an American, I think something sexual when I hear that. It may mean something way different in Canada, but that sounded sexual to me.

"I would be surprised if he would be NHL-ready now," Forsberg’s agent, Claus Elefalk said. "In two years, probably."

Seems reasonable. I'd love to get him to Hershey this fall, but that's not the typical path for Euros.

Dunno if they're ********. All in all Varly will probably end up a better overall hockey player in the end. Plus they needed a goalie.

Better than who? Forsberg? Forsberg has #1 powerforward potential, and was a projected 2-5 overall pick. Add to that we used the other pick to get Ribeiro, and we easily win that trade. Hell I'd do Ribeiro for Varlamov, let alone adding an elite powerforward prospect coming our way. Great day in DC.

I can see Forsberg topping out as Franzen/Cole, and Varlamov topping out as Lehtonen. If you need both kinds of players I'd take Lehtonen in that scenario. Don't see why avs fans would be pissed.

I also feel get a bit of a MPS vibe from him who was also projected 5-6. Hopefully not though.

Idk Forsberg is apparently the most complete forward in the draft and it sounds like he's not a perimeter player, which MPS is. He was a steal, and IMO will be a 25-40 goal scorer.

I'm not sure if you could consider him more complete than Galchenyuk.

I think he's probably gonna be a 25-60 player with a peak season of 35-70, solid all around.

Our look at Forsberg:

Quote:
Forsberg is the most complete player out of Sweden. He has smarts, powerful skating, excellent two-way skills and nice size, but is not excellent in terms of high-end speed. Forsberg’s skating is solid, he is very agile and has good acceleration. He possesses a great pair of hands, a very good shot and a nose for the net. Forsberg has the hockey sense to be a scoring threat any time the puck is in the offensive end. He is willing to use his size to protect the puck and his impressive strength to battle hard along the wall for pucks. He is a very versatile player that can be your leading scorer, shut down winger, top PP threat and top PK option as well.

And Wilson:

Quote:
Wilson is a forward who brings a nice mix of aggression and puck skills and shows a lot of potential with the progression that his game has seen over the past few years. He is a very good skater for a guy his size and gets to where he needs to be, generating healthy amounts of speed. He is a great small space type player because of his strength and has surprisingly quick hands and immense size. He can generate offense down low off the cycle by powering his way to the net. He controls the boards with his power and reach and has a shot that is hard and quick. He will plant himself in front of the net and no defenseman in the OHL can move him.

Forsberg fell and they had to have a seminar about it. I'm happy as can be. My guess is Forsberg becomes a 30-30 guy who is tenacious and tough to play against. The Caps haven't had many players like that...

Maybe like a Rod Brind'Amour. Or maybe Patrice Bergeron. It sounds like Forsberg will play wing. I expect a top 2nd line winger. If he becomes an all-star that's great, too.

In two years:

Ovie-Backstrom-Kuz
Semin (!)-Ribeiro-Forsberg
Wilson-Mojo-Brouwer
Chim-Beagle-Ward

Alzner-Carlson
????-Orlov
Kinda-Thin

Holtby
Savvy Vet

We'll see about Green. I think Laich will still be here but one can hope.
