I was hoping the Canucks would take him at 26, but Gaunce is good, too.

THN had him ranked at number 5 last spring. It's actually shocking how much some of those guys fell (or how bad THN is at analyzing talent; they had Max Domi ahead of Nathan MacKinnon and Seth Jones).

I don't like Frk at all, and I go to a lot of live Mooseheads games. Watched him in the playoffs, wasn't even a top 3 player on the team IMO. He'l likely be a little better next year, but I still wouldn't use a 2nd on him unless it's late.

LOL.

I'm not gonna lie, I know nothing about this kid, but I'm gonna remember this thread when people set in on the "They're only called steals because of the Red Wings 'past'. "

Wow what a shocker, Detroit and Ken Holland end up with another European steal. Can't say i'm surprised at all.

A quick edition that is from his profile:

Quote:
He was the youngest player to represent the Czech Republic at the 2011 World Junior Championship, leading the team with three goals in six games. Frk also competed at the 2010 and 2011 Under-18 World Championship, where he tied for the team lead in scoring in 2010 (2-5--7) and 2011 (1-4--5).

Little too early to be anointing him as a steal. He was a dropper in the draft for a reason.

I think he has the make up of a guy who have the ability to be a steal....Frk strong, getting better along boards, excellent shooter and release, great puck handling ability, exciting to watch but his passing, vision and ability to playmake is so underrrated the guy can make amazing plays...when he has a full year to play not like this year coming back from a bad injury and starting when everyone else has their legs back plus he could not train...this guys skating needs some speed but it is not as bad as most make it out to be, this guy has the chance to be an excellent player who could have steal wroten all over him.

I thought we were going to get Aberg and Frk both...and then, one pick before us, Detroit snags him.

And we would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you mettling Red Wings.

Because he had a concussion that set him back a few months.

Because he had a concussion and got out of shape. There have already been posters saying he's been working hard to get back into shape.

He didn't look good at all in the Halifax games I caught last season, but it could have been a combo of off games for him, and a poor season in general recovering from his concussion. He did look pretty good the year before, but I wouldn't label him a steal just yet, let's see how he does next year. When Detroit got Jurco in the 2nd round last year, I had more of a "steal" feeling, Jurco is way ahead of Frk in skating and hands and looks like he'll be an NHLer in the future, while Frk is a guy who IMO could easily not make it to the show.

His poor skating is bothersome. I wouldn't call him a steal either.

As a whole, Detroit didn't draft any 'sexy' players this year like they did the last couple years. Perhaps that Bodin kid that nobody knows about turns out to be the "steal" we are all looking for.

Exactly. Let's not bow down to the Detroit scouting staff too early on this one.
