Grigs and Girgs in the social media room

Didn't know where else to put this. They did some cheesy photobooth shots but they look like they're going to get along just great.

Thanks for the free couple of minutes of looking at Alyonka.

They look like they're having fun, though. Good signs. Congratulations to both of them.

I hope they hit it off with Armia in dev camp. We have the old Rochester core, and now the core centered around Myers, Ennis, Foligno, etc. They could form a new group themselves being highly-selected, highly-talented Euros of a similar age.

As I posted earlier today:
Foligno-Grigorenko-Armia
Ennis-Girgensons-x
x-Hodgson-x

Grigorenko replaces Jankowski.
Girgensons and Hodgson are in a 2A/2B situation.

Wouldn't you rather have Girgensons anchor more of a checking line (or at least 2-way line)? Maybe flip Ennis and Foligno?

Ennis-Grigerenko-Armia
x-Hodgson-x
Foligno-Girgensons-x

Pominville on the Girgensons line makes a lot of sense. Vanek/Stafford on Hodgson's wings? Of course who knows which vets will still be here...but those lines would look pretty solid.

Love those lines. Vanek/Stafford/Pominville just happen to fill out the missing slots too:

Foligno-Grigorenko-Armia
Ennis-Girgensons-Stafford
Vanek-Hodgson-Pominville

I don't think we keep all of them, but see who falls to us in the draft the next couple years, and re-sign veterans based on what we can't draft. I wouldn't mind seeing Vanek stick around to make a run at Gil's goals mark too. Hopefully he'd take a hometown discount next contract with that in mind.

Also, I love putting Ennis on the wing and having him to slide over to center when injuries happen. Having him on wing would be such a luxury!

As good as Ennis is with Stafford and Foligno, could you imagine if he built chemistry with Grigs and Armia? Freakin potential for a sick sick line right there.

I also think that Foligno would make Hodgson's job tremendously easier. Just get Hodgson the puck and let him work his ****, the vision and patience I saw from the kid, he's already one of our best playmakers. In fact I think Hodgson will have a better year than Ennis, give the kid time to get comfortable and get him quality line mates, and I think he can break 60 points next year.

Girgenson's is going to be a freakin stud, I can't wait for this kid. He changes the whole dynamic of the team, if he can become that elite shutdown guy while Hodgson and Grigs carry the offense, that is 3 sick lines right there. He seems like a real committed guy. His willingness to do anything is exactly what this team needs.

I think that top line would be a little too soft for my taste.
Foligno is another big body but he'll create space for them and has the ability to ride shotgun ala Hartnell.
Unless we get someone else with that ability, I want him with Armia and Grigs.
If Pominville is still around, either he or Ennis should be on Girgensons wing, as he is more of a shooter and needs a playmaker.

I agree with this. Ennis/Grigs/Armia would be fun in the regular season, but that seems like a line that gets mashed in the playoffs. I'd rather see Foligno out there doing the dirty work on the boards and crashing the net for rebound goals.

I also like keeping Ennis on a lower line where he can use his speed to abuse weaker defensive pairings.

More aroused by the thought of Grigs and Girgs on the team than I am by the blonde, not gonna lie.

(I hope my wife is reading this)

I think it's a little too early to judge how Grigs & Armia are going to turn out in the NHL as far as "grit" and "toughness" are concerned. Look at Malkin, not to mention Finns tend to be the grittiest of the Euros.

I assume they are at least familier with eachother already as they were both drafted to the same khl team together.

Everyone's excited, that is good.
But some are getting a bit ahead of themselves here.
I don't believe they'll break up the Foligno, Ennis, Stafford line, at least they won't if that trio doesn't falter this up coming season.

I see the following a potential this season:

Vanek - Hodgson - Pominville
Foligno - Ennis - Stafford
Gerbe - Grigorenko - ?
Leino - ? - ?

Not sure on the 4th line center and the 2 missing RW'ers, someone got any ideas.

Unless we can grab ryan or another winger but that depends on who we can trade

Alyonka: "Do you know how to do photobooth?"

Zemgus: "No, I'm Latvian, so I don't know."

Total deadpan.

Girgensons didn't attend that draft and didn't grow up in the organization, so Grigorenko probably wasn't familiar with him before this.
