^^ If you take someone's advice to make a decision and you repeat what they say, aren't you essentially co-signing what they said?

What does that mean when someone like this use the word of another guy to say that the guy will be a great player? He might as well have said it himself.

Dude:" so how strong is this Hulk guy?"

Specialist:"let's just say that Mr. Fantastic himself said that he has seen him and he said he will probably be the strongest there is".

Ill never understand why HF loves to take a dump on anything flames related, you guys make it sound like he shouldnt have even been drafted when he was picked only a few spots before he was projected (someone was going to take him in the first round if not the flames)

Guaranteed that if the Flames had taken Maatta and another team had taken Jankowski, we'd be talking about how Maatta would bust under the Flames management.

Of course? Feaster is listening to his top hockey guys, because he isn't a hockey guy. Yet people are ******** all over him as if he is stating this will happen for sure, he's basically saying, this guy said this, I have faith in his word. Not once did he say, "in my opinion" or "i know". Time will tell if JOHN WEISBROD was right or not.

Weisbrod btw was the Director of Pro and Collegiate Scouting for the Boston Bruins since 2006 until coming to the Flames after the Bruins cup win.

Generally speaking, if a guy who has been scouting college hockey players all his career recommends a hockey player from a college institution, I'm inclined to trust him.

I admit all those silly rumors scared me but we got the best player in the end.

As for the Flames I hope it works out for them. I'm just glad they didn't get another gem like Sven. Feasters comment - to me - indicate he just wants to placate a frustrated fanbase that is slowly but surely waking up and smelling the coffee.

I honestly dont mind the pick, it just seemed kind of odd to me. I expected the flames to pick someone who could jump to the NHL right away or a year or so later, but Jankowski is a bigger project, a few years away atleast.

As a player though, the pick seems to be a good example of boom or bust. Great potential, but could end up being absolutely insignificant.

Flames head brains have made it clear, we are not drafting "safe" players with our high picks anymore. Swinging for the fences, guys like Bartschi, Jankowski, Granlund and Gaudreau would have never been selected under the old regime. We just don't have the good young talent to be able to draft an NHL ready prospect with a lower ceiling in the first round.

This forum was going to crap on the Flames no matter what they did. The most common criticism this board likes to level is that Calgary has a reputation of making safe picks with limited upside. When they step outside that box and do the exact opposite, somehow they are still at fault. There is seriously no pleasing you people.

Reminds me of exactly the thoughts, reactions, feelings and result of Joe Colborne draft.

Oh man, that's exactly what I said when they drafted Jankowski.

Obviously, we won't know for several years, though. I wouldn't write him off, but I sure as heck don't have a lot of confidence in a kid who plays high school hockey and is going to a program that has a poor reputation (Providence).

For all intents and purposes, he's an 18-year-old given that he'll be 18 by the time hockey season starts.

The best thing to do will be to compare what he does next season in Dubuque to what Girgensons did this season for the exact same program.

Jankowski is 9 months younger than Zemgus, so it should give you a fairly good idea of where he would have been taken if he was not the youngest player in the draft.

That could also be a factor as to why Teravainen went where he did as well.

Well in context he is 11 months younger than Nail Yakupov. That is a significant amount of time.

Since when is Calgary in a position to take a chance like this on a draft pick? I mean they clearly passed on TT to draft down and take a kid they probably could've had in the second round. If TT becomes special and Jankowski is not a top 10 player from the first round eventually then the Flames look like complete jack *****.

I am not thinking about their past drafts at all. I think they need a good pick that can really excite their fan base. TT was that pick. This could really come back to bite them.

So what exactly disqualifies Jankowski from being that guy?

Two options

A. Believe he is the best player drafted in 2012

B. Realize it is an extremely risky and confusing move for the flames.
