Is he eligible to play in preseason? I'm not sure how it works with European players.

I don't think he can ever be THAT good personally, but we are talking top line potential. I have no idea how he fell this far down, the obsession with defensemen and size I guess.

You already have Habs "fans" on Facebook crying about this pick because he's under 6' tall.

Seriously, I don't see how anyone could NOT be happy with this pick. GREAT pick at 33.

Because those fans that cry about this pick are probably ones that will only watch international tournaments with Team Quebec.

Anyone who watched the WJC could tell you this kid is dynamite.

You guys see Collberg taking a Silfvberg type of route? 3 Years in SEL then North American NHL Ready?

When the first round ended last night I couldn't sleep because I was excited that we stood a chance to get Collberg. I'm serious, I know it's lame but after Galchenyuk, the thought that we could also end up with our best winger prospect since Pacioretty was just too much. Everything else today was a bonus.

But of course you have so called Habs fans crying because his stats in an adult league weren't impressive and because he isn't 6'4".

#Habs Marc Bergevin says he's very satisfied with the draft; surprised players were there. Watched Collberg play in Feb; wanted him for CHI.

So what's the route for him now? What's his contract status?

He's under contract 1 more year. Hopefully we can bring him over after that. On TSN 990 it sounded like he's open to staying longer so hopefully they sign him as soon as possible.

Stats were the major reason why I didn't want Filip Forsberg. I know, young boys playing with grown men, it might take a while. But the state of SEL is actually pretty rubbish, slightly better than Finnish comparison, but only by marginal difference. Even the holy aircrank - Mikael Granlund - dominates Finnish Elite League and that guy doesn't even know how to skate properly. So calling someone who hasn't produced in hockey periphery a steal sounds a bit premature for me.

Didn't see him in WJC though, so let's hope I'm out of my mind like a loony grandpa on heroin. Swedes are you usually great skaters, so he should have least one great asset.

There were not that many BIG top-talent wingers available this year. Even Forsberg fell in the second tier of the first round.

But these kids are barely 18, even 17. They have time to grow.

I heard on TSN that Collberg was arguably better than Forsberg at the WJC.

Love his speed too, and I love swedes in general. (no homo)

Collberg has been compared to Ales Hemsky. This is a superb pick by Timmins.

Timmins on whether he was happy that Collberg was there for #Habs at No. 33: "Well, I'm smiling."

Hemsky's skillset, maybe but Collberg goes into traffic as evident by his WJC and that's what I like about him. Plays a little small but if he can protect the puck and get stronger....
