Favourite Habs Team Post Lockout

What is your favourite Habs Team post lockout?

Mine would be the 2009-10 team not just because of the playoff run but some of the players on it like Glen Metropolit and Moore and how the team played hard despite losing key guys at key times like when the team lost AK and Cammy near the olympics and still beat PIT and BOS

A close second would be 2010-11 because of how hard the players played even with gorges and markov hurt on the backend and Patches hurt late in the season

2007-08 despite the frustrating 2nd round. Hell of a team to watch.

I always thought that some Hab fans enjoyed watching the team lose so they could rip apart the organization. And if 2007-08 this isn't the consensus answer I'm going to consider it fact.

Team finished first in the east.

We destroyed the Bruins. Went 8-0 against them, outscoring them 39-16, then beat them in the playoffs with a very memorable 5-0 win in game 7.

Price following his goaltender of the year CHL season, AHL calder cup/MVP playoffs and World Junior gold/MVP had a very exciting and promising rookie debut.

Markov was in his prime and among the leagues best. Streit broke out, him and Markov were #3 and #6 in the NHL for Dman points.

The top line was worth the price of admission every single night. The Bell Centre buzz every time Kovalev touch the puck.

The highlight goals and the most goals in the league. The 5-0 comeback.

It's 2007-2008, it's not close and I'm amazed anyone says otherwise.

The 07/08 team was by far, the best team to watch.

Kovalev was motivated the entire season and put on a clinic. It was exciting to see Carey Price burst on the scene as well. Akost had his best season, and Skost looked like a rookie gem. Plekanec showed up and turned into a player that was more than we were hoping for.

The PP was nothing short of devastating the way kovalev, markov, and streit were working.

Unfortunately, the playoffs ended up being a disappointment with Price looking like a rookie and the PP losing its power. But man, that was a very entertaining and high octane team.

The 07/08 and it's not even close. Such an exciting and electric team. Speedy and skilled yet not afraid of other teams physicality.

The 09/10 was quite boring during all the season even if they played hard. The playoffs were great though.

Love our 08-09 line up. Especially the forward group.

Koivu
Kovalev
Tanguay
Plekanec
Lang
A. Kostitsyn
S. Kostitsyn
Latendresse
Higgins
Pacioretty
Lapierre

Too bad there was so many injuries that we never had a full line up once.

Imagine a full year with a line up like this:

Kovalev-Koivu-Tanguay
Higgins-Plekanec-Latendresse
S. Kost-Lang-A. Kost
Kostopolous-Lapierre-Begin /Pacioretty/Laraque

Markov-Komisarek
Gorges-Hamrlik
Obyrne-Brisebois Bouillon/Dandenault

Price
Halak

And yet people are very critical of Gainey work, I mean when we had a windows he did what he could too bad the team had their problems" he wasn't the best GM ever, but he did a good job at building a team even if he did some mistakes like the Ribeiro trade.

I loved 08-09.

One of the most talented team i've been able to watch.

Koivu-Kovy-Tangay was just nasty...

Gainey had some good moments, no doubt about it. The 08/09 team should have been good. That was the most disappointing team considering that it followed the great 07/08 season, and it looked even better on paper with lang and tanguay, than it did the year before. The team just got lost in off ice controversies, and injuries.

It was a team that was hovering around 4th/5th until the new year when **** started hitting the fan. That's pretty much when Boston overtook us as the better team, and they have held that title since.

That season was so bad, that is caused a major dismantling of the core.

No

Cup.

And until they stop keeping score during games, that is all that matters...........for most of us anyway.

When Pacioretty was in the lineup, 2010-11 was the best and most balanced team overall team Montreal iced since the nineties. It was the only time they broke out of the reliance on special teams and goaltending and actually carried the play on even strength.

4 lines that could both attack and defend and the most effective top 2 defense pairings the team put together since the lockout in front of an all-star goaltender with two effective PP and PK units. There was a reason the gave the Cup champions a run for their money despite missing their second best forward.

It was also the one time the team didn't need Markov to be good.

08-09 maybe had the bodies to do that if they were healthy and well coached but ended up being neither.

Yeah exactly that the post all-star game was so horrible that year, I don't know what happened really.

So Scotty Bowman wasn't a good coach in St-Louis ?

Also Gainey brought us the team the nearest to a cup since 1993, the 2009-2010 group was his creation.

All that and we still had Koivu.
