He'll get signed if he's willing to be a back up. I'd take him over mason based on age. If he does well with a reasonable contract he'd be a valuable asset if chevy was looking to make a trade.

I like this pick up I think he's a solid back up goaltender.

He has a potential still in him as he is in the age when goalies play their best game. Was fantastic when he played in the Elitserien. With good coaching, he could get his game going in the NHL. We can't set him same kind of expectation as Leafs fans did when he was brought there. They were expecting him to be kind of messiah for them.

Solid back-up goalie playing ~15-20 games with couple games where he can steal the game for us and I will be happy.

Quite a few posts in here along the lines of "of well, he should be able to play 15 games for us".

I think we need a guy who can play 25-30 games at least. Pavelec played too much last year. We need 25 good games out of whoever our backup is. That's why Mason's not coming back - the coaching staff didn't have enough faith to start him. He only started 4 of the last 29 games, and 1 of those starts came after we were eliminated.

I think Gustavsson can be that guy. He played between 42, 23 and 42 games in the last 3 seasons with Toronto and he might do better with less workload and more favourable match-ups.

He's a good backup plan. At a low cost.

Love this move
