You know that Milbury story? He has been suspended indefinitely from CBC and NBC.

Coyotes traded Turris to Ottawa for D. Rundblad and a 2nd round pick. Really good trade for Phoenix.

It's incredible that Murray still has a job after all the assets he's already squandered.

Just look around the league and you see top pairing defenseman, and top-6 forwards, starting goaltenders, Stanley Cup winners -- all former Sens with several productive years left.

Wow. Maloney is a freaking genius.

Yandle-Klesla
OEL - Rundblad
Schlemko-Stone
Gormley-Goncharov

That's a nice set of defensemen they have for the future. Then add Vrbata, Hanzal, Korpikovski, Tikhonov (if he fulfulls his potential), and some potential in guys like Miele and Werek, and they have the start of a really good team. They need more forward depth, but their defense is looking good.

Add Murphy to that group and yeah, that's an elite group of 2 way d-men and they're set for a long, long time!

And at the finish line.... it's Darryl Sutter by a nose!

TSN "report" claims Lombardi's new HC is Sutter. Together again! So many memories... I guess Carlyle's departure from Anaheim created a low-pressure LA ego vacuum and sucked in a new era!

they need a future goalie too. Mark Visentin looks alright, but not necessarily like a top flight starter at the NHL level.

Domingue looks like he's got some promise as well. They won't need an elite goalie but if one of those two doesn't turn into a good NHL starter, they've got the pieces to trade for one.

Re Sutter -- meeting up with team in LA on Tuesday (not coaching tonight nor Monday). First game Thursday (against Ducks).

Goalies are so easy to find and acquire these days that I don't think the Yotes need to worry. They've got an impressive stable of price-controlled two-way defensemen who have quickly become the most expensive commodity on the market. Maloney is establishing himself as one of the best GMs in the league IMO. Scoffing at Bryzgalov's ridiculous contract request and instead signing Mike Smith (who, in basically his only full season, posted a higher even-strength SV% than Bryzgalov ever has and is doing so once again so far this year) for very little was a genius move as was somehow turning an impending UFA Scottie Upshall into Klesla.

Helene Elliott / LA Times sports blog reporting the Sutter hiring news was "confirmed" by "a source familiar with the situation but not authorized to speak publicly." Awful lotta leakin goin on down there...

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/spor...rrray-nhl.html

Elliot continues: "Sutter is blunt and gruff... He is known to push players hard... and he has little time for those who don’t give a full effort... [but] if the Kings continue to struggle offensively, Lombardi could be out of a job after the season."

Sooooo many echoes of 2002-03.

They won't need a great goalie with that kind of defense - if they develop well.

By the way, NHL: get a freakin' scheduling clue already!

There's 22 NHL teams in action tonight, 12 on the east coast, and not one single game starts before 7pm Eastern / 4pm Pacific??????

"Oooooooo, we're terrrrrified of the other sports' broadcasting competition!"

Really? Really????

There's the "Potato Bowl," the "New Mexico Bowl," 4 NBA pre-season games starting after 5pm ET, and 1 NFL game starting at 8:20pm ET. That's what scares the pants off NHL programming HQ in Manhattan?

Well, Philadelphia vs Boston was before 4pm. But yeah, I see your point.

Couturier was hit in the head earlier today from a shot by Timmonen and is now in the hospital.
Man, if he ends up with a concussion (which seems highly likely), that's some bad luck for Philly. First Pronger, then Schenn, then Giroux, and now Couturier?

Darn!

Rant deflated by sting of reality! Did not scroll NHL scores page down to see completed games... but then I noticed Philly/Boston wasn't on NBC or Versus... instead, fans of those two networks were treated to "Swimming - Duel in the Pool: United States vs. Europe" and "Texas Bass Classic."

Duel in the Freakin' Pool!?!? As I mentioned before...

It's always nice when there's a really good hockey match up and versus is playing some deer hunting show. Does anyone actually get satisfaction watching hunting shows? I mean, I can't imagine hunters think it's that exciting and non hunters even less so.
