I would much rather they hit on their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round picks than the 7th.

And I didn't hear anyone complaining about Tampa "wasting" a 7th on David Carle.

I don't see it as a "homer" pick as much as a sentimental one, or even a political one.

Wow, Fletch should load up on the 7th rounders next draft - they are apparently quite the important asset.

Oh look, we're up to 7 pages on this, and new people just keep bringing up the same, singular argument verbatim. There's over 150 posts in this thread, your obvious comment is not fresh, new, or clever.

Fueled by rage and desire to prove people wrong, Nanne is going to explode and become a pure sniper playing on the wild in 2 years. He will then pull a jay and silent bob and track down all the haters from this thread and make them eat their posts(the device they posted on)

Don't make him angry...... You wouldn't like him when he's angry

The puppies are not friends of Parise. They are friends with Ryan Suter, the kittens are friends with Zach.

I was gonna say...for no reason whatsoever Suter seems like a dog guy and Parise a cat guy.

Adam Gilmour is a badass name. Reminds me of Adam Jones from Tool mixed with David Gilmour from Pink Floyd.

Personally, I would do the same if I was a player in his shoes.

If you're not likely to go in the first round or three, why would you want to be drafted at all? Especially if you're several years out. I wouldn't want a team to be in my ear about my career path decisions. If the time comes where teams would be interested in you at the next level, especially if you developed very well to the point that multiple teams are vying for your services, you're now eligible to be signed to a better deal with better bonus money. AND you have the choice of where you go/where you believe you'd fit the best.

I think it's a no-brainer and am surprised more players don't force the issue like that.

If he worked on his skating and worked on his physicality, I'm guessing he could get up there.

Could it be they selected Nanne because he was more of a "known" quantity? They know the character of this kid and they know that he has the bloodline. Combine that with the fact that he will be a college player meaning they won't have to even think of signing him for a minimum of 4-5 years from now, and they can just him develop and see what happens. If they draft a player out of the CHL or Europe, they need to make a decision on that guy after a few seasons or they lose him.

If you really think about it, it's not that bad of a pick at all. Realistically, any 7th round pick is an extreme longshot to make the NHL, so if you're going to roll the dice, better to roll on it something that is a known rather than an unknown.
I don't want to "bash" Louis Jr. - he had NOTHING to do with his name being called out at the draft. From all indications, he's a really good kid.

I understand WHY the Wild might want to draft him with their final pick in the 7th round. But, MN hockey fans and MN Wild season ticket holders are not mindless sheep. For GMCF to come out and say, basically, "he was the best available player" at pick 188 is insulting to any casual MN Wild fan and EXTREMELY insulting to any knowledgeable MN Wild fan. I also understand that Louis III is a very good kid and has "great character". But the fact the he has "character" and was drafted over players with obviously much more skill and/or size (Besse, Merchant, Adam Johnson, Cody Corbett, etc.) sure makes it seem like the Wild had problems with the character of the players previously mentioned.

If it was a "PR" draft pick, just say so and we can all move on. But, please don't insult us - as fans and season ticket holders we expect more than that.

Isn't it telling though that NO ONE, not just the Wild, decided to pick them at all? Did all 30 teams decide to pick PR moves with their 7th round pick?

From what I can tell, Corbett hasn't even been to invited to anyone prospect camp yet.
