Let's face the reality guys. There isn't much on the current roster that is really desirable to other teams or guys we want to trade (gardiner, Kessel etc). We need to just keep building up the prospect base where these guys actually develop into good NHLers (if guys like Ross, Mckegg, D'migo pan out, those guys would be desirable for other teams) or use them for assets in trades.
While we haven't had a starting goaltender, it's not like we have to trade a 1st round pick to get one or draft one. Goaltending is a crap shoot, a guy like Quick wasn't even noticed until this year and people pegged him to lose his job to Bernier in the future. Look how that turned out. Hiller and Backstrom both signed as UFAs. No need for Burke to sell the future on one. How we get a #1 C who knows. Only alternative is build up a strong top 6 even if there isn't a true #1 center. I don't see many people think Backes, or Andy McDonald as ones but Blues had success anyway.
I'm not expecting much until the dominoes begin to fall after July 1st. A good handful of teams probably have their sights set on the bigger names like Parise, Suter, Nash, etc., so once those guys are gone I think a few more teams will open up to the idea of filling holes with players like MacArthur, Franson, Schenn, etc.
tbh I'd be pretty surprised if Burke doesn't move at least one or two of 'LACK' this summer.
