With a struggling starter and no obvious replacements in the system, the Columbus Blue Jackets looked to bolster their goaltending depth at the 2012 NHL Draft with the selection of two well regarded prospects at this position.* One of those picks, Oscar Dansk, was considered by some scouts to the the top goaltender available in the draft.
As it turned out, Dansk was not the first goaltender chosen in Pittsburgh back in June – Andrey Vasilevskiy received that honor – but Dansk was the first player chosen on Day 2 of the NHL Draft.
