Fehr not qualified

Quote:
PITTSBURGH — It looks like the Winnipeg Jets will be moving on from right-winger Eric Fehr.

GM Kevin Cheveldayoff said after Saturday’s final rounds of the NHL entry draft that the team has not extended a qualifying offer to the Winkler native.

That will make him an unrestricted free agent next Sunday.

Good
His qualifier was 2.2mm

WAY too much

If we could sign him for half that i would be on board

Too bad it didn't work out for him. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy, it just wasn't meant to be after his injury.

This is likely the case. Fehr may rebound yet. A $1m deal may be palatable.

I think that is exactly what it is.

I'd like to see him get another chance - no more than 1m tops. I really can't see any other team offering more. If that happens I want some of whatever they are smoking

No one will give him 2.2 so if we want him we can still give him a fair offer which is way less then 2.2 as he is not worth that after what he showed last year injured or not....if he does move on good luck to him

I'll always remember his goal against Dallas.

One of my fondest memories of last season.

My guess (and it is a pure guess) is that Fehr had some setbacks last year. The Jets treated him very well and supported him through trying to get back and Fehr will reward that by only signing with the Jets on a 1 year deal at a discounted rate.

If this happens it will really speak to how the org. treats players and will bode well for us attracting FA's in the future.

This was expected. The Jets could not possible qualify him at 2.2M given his injuries.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Fehr. He's a reclamation project at this time but I think, given his ties to community, his preference would be to stay with Winnipeg. But having said that, it's unclear to me if he'll find many teams willing to offer him a 1 way contract.

I think the best path for him in the long run may be to spend some time in Europe. He needs get to a point where he can have some confidence in his body and I think the more spread out and less physical game in Europe (say Switzerland) would help a lot. If he can get back to playing without the constant concern of something breaking I think he could still make a decent career as a 2nd/3rd line winger.

I don't see that happening at all. Its a business, if you don't perform and contribute to the team, making them better, then your out, no matter what your salary may be slashed to.

I wouldn't mind seeing him not resigned.

I don't see him as a second line RW and we should be making room in the bottom 6 for some of our other RW's.

It will have to be by committee I think. When someone like that goes down, everyone needs to each pick up a piece because it's too much to ask just one person to try to pick up the slack.

He's probably being serious.

Well, in fact, it does happen. Treating your employees well, and rewarding a good employer with loyalty is just 'good business'.

We better hope to hell stuff like this goes on, because it is a feather in the cap we can build to attract players to Winnipeg. (other that having a consistent winner)

Agree that will be a start but you don't just rip 2G and 1A out of a line-up and expect that everything will continue on as if nothing changed. It leaves a hole you can drive a Tonka truck through.

I hate it when people don't even give the guy credit for his poking at the puck as he glides by... that is a skill you can't learn, it has to be in your blood.

You people are messing with my head. I don't need this, not after watching the season premier of Wilfred. Goodbye.
