****ing ridiculous. Schenn has done nothing but give his all out there on the ice and in the community in Toronto. He was a great person in the Toronto organization, that is ******** to say about him.

Damn gonna miss Schenn. Not a bad trade, JVR will look good playing with Grabo, but man, sucks to see Schenn go. I think it's a mistake trading him already.

It's always risky trading a shut-down defenseman of Schenn's potential to someone in your own conference.

But I hope the risk pays off and that JVR plays as physical game for us.

Yeah it's funny how things can change. One time Komisarek and Higgins were the Habs two building blocks. Look how that went!

Kadri

With Lupul and Kessel on line 1 & JVR and Kulemin on Line 2: and Mac & Frattin/Armstrong on line 3 there is No Room for Kadri here.

I am neither here nor there on this move.

I'm a big Schenn fan, and feel with Underhill now coaching skating, and a defensively oriented system, he was going to start developing properly, but we did need to add size and skill to the top-6.

Good hockey trade for both teams. Man, our forwards better be on the lookout, because he's a bomber.

I'm a huge Schenn fan. He was probably my fav player on the team but this is a solid trade.
Both have struggled but we desperately need of a power forward.

Well, there's the opening in the lineup for Schultz.

JvR is going to be a solid player for us. He played against tough competition in Philly, but benefited from above average offensive zone starts. Based on Carlyle's intentions to use Steckel along with Connolly and possibly Kulemin as a shut down third line, JvR should be seeing easier competition and be even more effective. He was also unlucky (as evidenced by a 973 PDO rating) and should have better offensive numbers next season simply based on that.

Schenn on the other hand was a top four defenceman (18 minutes per 60 ES) against above average competition (only very slightly above average) in one of his four seasons here (his third). Schenn can be a top four defender but he needs to improve as we were outshot significantly when he was on the ice.

I like this trade.

Nice.

Maybe Philly flips both Schenns for Ryan or Nash if they don't keep them?

Wow. Good one.

JVR can be good for 75 points.
JVR____Kessel. Nice.

We still needed that center though.

Wow. You guys will love JVR. A great team guy who just had terrible, terrible luck in Philly.

If you make the playoffs, you'll see a MONSTER in JVR.

It will also require the defenceman we kept, to not reach their potential. Won't matter what Schenn does, if other guys step up, and JVR reaches potential, it's not a bad deal.

If he sheds some weight this summer and improves his skating, I think he could be a good second-pairing guy similar to Brooks Orpik. Flyers fans seemed pretty happy with how Nicklas Grossmann played after being traded there, and Schenn is a similar player except younger and with more upside, so he should be a good fit with the young core they're putting together over there.

Excited to see what JVR can do with the Leafs next season.

People should be happy. He was slow as ****. Never patient with the puck, struggled to get the puck out, can't pass...hell he seemed softer last season too.

Scheen's feet were way too slow and getting quicker is certainly not an easy thing to do. I also don't really think Scheen has the body type to be able to quicken up like that so I see him as being a slower defender for the rest of his career. I like the trade.
