JVR - Grabo - Kulie

This will be such a sick 2nd line.

- - - - - - - -

Lupul - _____ - Kessel - 1st line scoring line
JVR - Grabo - Kulie - 2nd line shut down line that can put up points
Kadri - _____ - Frattin - 3rd line, sheltered line, playing against weak opposition to score goals
Brown - Steckle - _____- 4th line, grinding physical line

Just like Ana did when they won the cup.

______ - Phaneuf
Gardiner - ______
Gunnarsson - Liles/Franson/Komisarek/Holzer

If we could get Schultz, this be an amazing off-season.

We badly needed size on the wings. I like it.

Great trade for both sides. Both players have tremendous upside and address positional needs. I hope Schenn develops into everything we thought he'd be, but I have to admit I'm excited as to what a healthy JVR could become.

One of the upsides of having tremendous defensive depth.

JVR____Kessel. Nice.

We still needed that center though.

I thought JVR was a natural center.

Really upset to see schenner go...I'm usually not a negative nancy but I think we're going to regret this trade eventually.

Anyway, welcome JVR!

Thanks, couldn't agree more. 6'3" power forward who lives in the paint, can shoot from anywhere and is begging for a shot to be a difference maker. This guy has nothing but potential.

Schenn and JVR are in pretty similar situations for different reasons but I feel like Schenn is kind of getting a raw deal from some here. He's going to be good. I think in value this deal is pretty close to a push but just makes a lot of sense for both sides.

Well it depends on how significant Colborne's wrist injury was. It's kinda like Grigorenko playing through the ankle sprain/mono...great that he did it. Shows a lot of heart...but he still sucked while he was playing through the pain.

Colborne has never looked good in any of the live Marlies games I saw this year (mind you...neither did Scrivens tbh...so obviously limited viewings).

Maybe this means we can turn Kuli or Mac into something?

Lupul- Bozak - Kessel
Kadri (plox)- Grabovski - JVR

Then they move Kuli (signed) + Mac + Franson (signed) for something valuable (a goalie?), sign Schultz...and we're set!

I dunno how I feel about the move tbh. I wish it could've been someone else. I like Schenn...I just think he had unfair expectations from day 1.

I like it. Schenn really wasn't playing a huge role for us, and the one he was playing can be filled by someone cheaper like Holzer.

JVR has serious potential too. I'm really liking our winger depth right now especially if Kulemin returns to form.

My first reaction is I'm really disappointed. Although Luke didn't have a great year, he still had good trade value. What the Leafs really need is TOP line centre, not yet another 2nd line centre. We got a little bigger up the middle and JVR can play, but I don't see him being a difference maker. We were weak in the centre and deep in defence, so I suppose from a balance perspective it makes sense. I would still have much rather seen Burke package up Schenn with a another player or two to get a TOP centre. That's what this team really needs.

Kadri is a natural center and he's played most of his career in that position.

I think Kadri should be afforded the big opportunity -- a first or second line center role.

No room for Bozak. Ugh, he's a third line center at best.

you will like Schenn in Philly... Pure Hockey trade... It looks like we wanted Couts and that wasn't an option... JVR was next in line.

Value is good, but Schenn is a great guy. Going to really miss him. Hope JVR can stay healthy for us. This also probably also makes MacArthur more available for trade than he already was.

Great move for the Leafs IMO.

As suggested earlier, Lukes time with the Leafs was coming to an end once Burke was clearly switching gears in terms of defenders.

He wanted mobile defenders that can make smart plays and simple outlet passes.

This clears up a glut on defence, and opens the door for the likes of other deserving young players.

JVR is going to get mixed reviews here.

IF he can stay healty, he's going to be an interesting piece. He's a big body that has Top 6 offensive skills, but is soft for his size.

So if the fans are expecting JVR to come in and be a physical force, they're going to be disappointed.

If they're expecting a project and a potential high-risk/high-reward type of move then this it the one they've been waiting for.

He has 70-80 point, top line potential, and is locked up until the 2017-2018 season at a reasonable cap hit of $4.25m per season if he can produce.

Great move IMO, but Schenner will be missed.

Fans will be split on every move accept the highway robbery ones like the Phaneuf trade.

Fair trade IMO both teams traded from an organizational strength to fill a positional need. Makes a lot of sense both ways.

Next to go MacArthur

2nd line

JVR - Grabo - Kadri

Didn't even think of that, but yeah, it makes sense. Maybe in a deal for a goalie.

11 more goals won't get us in the playoffs, but stopping 60 against might.

Still a bottom 5 team.
