So much for Luke Schenn becoming the "mayor of Toronto some day" how quickly things change

JVR has 6 more years at 4.25 million for a player who has never scored more than 40 points in a season.. Philly loses their best trade chip for a mediocre defender.

I'd rather have JVR, I think Toronto wins this one.

Staal sent to Carolina to be with Staal.
Schenn sent to Philly to be with Schenn.

Subban...

A defensive defenseman does not have that kind of trade value, no matter the age. Horrible trade by Philly, even if defense is a need.

JvR is worth way more than Schenn, too bad for them.

You know what this really means ????? Barring another move - at least one more year of Komisarek patrolling the Leafs blueline.

I agree, you would have to think Philly doesn't have enough to trade for Nash now unless they plan on packaging the Schenns.

While I agree I'd rather have JvR, I am not high on both players. JVR has an expensive long term contract for a player who hasnt shown he can be a consistant player in the league.

We can wait a year and draft Jordan.

Is it just a 1 for 1? I'd definitely rather have JVR. I don't think this makes them much more competitive though. Solid draft, good trade, but right now this move doesn't improve them drastically, at least in my opinion.

I think it's a good trade for both teams.

I agree. I think Schenn has a bounce back year in Philly, and have always like a good UNH kid like JVR.

Both teams have some work to do though. While they have lots of cap space (Toronto may have 12m), they have major holes to fill. Resigning Kulemin, Frattin, Franson and a 7th d AND getting a starting goalie.... Don't know if that can be done for 12m. Their problem is that they have way too much tied up in guys like Lombardi, Connolly and Komisarek.

Well I guess I could support it, if it helps keep the tradition going

Send a message via MSN to Dom - OHL
@Eklund: Nothing to the JVR to Leafs for Schenn Rumors…at this point.

This should be the last Eklund thing every quoted here. Says it all

Me three. I just wonder what took so damn long.

Both high-potential players who are pretty damn good right now.

Only thing I wonder, is how this wasn't a done deal a long time ago.
I'm guessing that neither team is done yet either.

Wild trade. As a Bruins fan, it doesn't faze me. We've dealt with both those chumps plenty 'nuff. I'm a bit surprised that Tronno would deal a bluechip Dman, though. I thought that was their weak spot and that forwards were okay. Maybe they are working on something else...

Nice deal for Toronto. Big fan of JVR.

Earlier this month I suggested a 3way for Boston/TO/PHI that had us flipping Schenn to PHI for JVR, but folks thought PHI wouldn't go for it.
