The
Columbus Blue Jackets entered the first round of the
2012 NHL Draft needing help at all positions. Holding the second selection overall in the draft allowed Scott Howson and Co. to begin their building efforts in a big way, and they did just that with the selection of defenseman
Ryan Murray from the
WHL's Everett Silvertips.
Murray is a steady rearguard with a good head on his shoulders and leadership qualities, attributes that should help to eventually settle the situation along the Blue Jackets' blue line. Many scouts felt that Murray is the most NHL-ready defenseman in this draft, so fans of the team could see their prized possession on a regular basis as soon as this fall.…
