Question about Tanner Pearson, LA's 1st Round pick

Here's what I understood by the comments made about Tanner Pearson when LA picked him in the 30th spot....

Apparently he'd been passed over in the last 2 Drafts, primarily due to injuries or something around the time of those previous drafts. My question is, if the kid is supposedly that good then why wouldn't he have been picked by some team at least in the later Draft Rounds in one of those previous Draft years? He's certainly not the first kid that's had an injury in the year of the Draft.

It just seems very strange that he would've been completely passed over in every Round of the draft for two years, and then go in the 30th spot this year and be considered to be a very good pick by LA.
