Good depth and if all goes well Houston needs a leader.

He was the only one trying the last month of the season. Glad to see him get rewarded, and glad to have his attitude back on the roster. I think he makes the Wild out of camp, to be honest.

i hope we don't reach the point where we need to bench someone and insert Steph as a lesson on how excited they should be to have this job. after havlat and Zid *****iness i'm sick of motivational problems.

If he does, it better be because 5 guys are already on IR. I respect the way SV plays but he simply isnt an NHL player.

I hope this is nothing more than CF putting Veilleux's energy and attitude on a young Houston team.

So what's our 4th line then? Powe, Kassian, and?

BOOK IT!

All joking aside... depth for a two way deal, hopefully always staying in Houston. I'll take it!

Can never be worried about a player who will play less than 8 minutes a night, if he plays at all. He's a great locker room guy, and a great guy to have on the bench. He knows his role and loves it here. Can't complain about the signing. I assume the deal is league minimum?

To start the season? assuming everybody is healthy? Clutterbuck,Powe, Bulmer/Kassian or sign a solid 4th line center and let Bulmer spend some time in Houston

Bulmer won't be playing on the 4th line. It's 3rd line or Houston.

i actually agree that Bulmer would benefit greatly from time in Houston, learning his limits. But he's also I think the guy closest in development to playing the role he was drafted for and would be harmed the least by playing fewer minutes. He'd be just fine on the fourth line and would be right here and acclimated once an injury happens and we need a bump-up.

I would rather see Bulmer in Houston, but if this team is going to reach the level it wants to, it will be because they have the depth to put a decent 3rd liner on the 4th line.

Yeah, I know I'd take Veilleux over Ortmeyer, and with our options at center, Peters as well. Could have also been a reaction to Cody Almond signing overseas. I'd take Veilleux over Nick Johnson as well.

I cant agree with that at all, and I am not the least bit upset that they let Johnson go. Veilleux is 100% effort and heart but he gets nothing done when he is on the ice.

lol i was wondering when the first holdover of the "Viellieuseless" group would pipe in.

edit: look, i have no illusions about his overall effectiveness, but he does have one of the strongest motors i've ever seen (lol yeo even laughed about it and shook his head) and he isn't horrible defensively. take some of the slack off our other players on the pk to go with his 7-8 minutes.
